The first thing that the federation and Tapia should be doing is make him comfortable, give him the time or the break that needs away from the team for whatever it is that's bothering him. Aimar could take charge for the interim period(since the next competitive match is atleast 7 months away), make the assessment in the next 3-4 months, and then take a call. We cannot see the legacy of La Scaloneta coming to an end so soon.
