Fulham FC and USMNT left back Antonee Jedi Robinson talked to me about the great story behind being the latest soccer player to score a goal and celebrate it by putting the ball underneath his shirt and over his stomach, and putting his thumb in his month.
After scoring the USMNT’s only goal vs Trindad and Tobago in Port of Spain’s Halsey Crawford Stadium, Robinson told me that he did that birthing goalscorer’s celebration to honor him and his fiancee having a second child.
“Really happy to score again,” he said. “Get the chance to celebrate, I got a little bit of stick off my fiancée for not mentioning the pregnancy. I’m expecting another baby on the way due in April.”
