The main goalkeeper Nick Pope is having a great season with Newcastle. But in the February match against Liverpool, Nick was not himself. But the most surprising thing is not that, but what happened in the 20th minute. Nick wanted to stop Salah from getting to the ball first and tried to head the ball into touch, but something went wrong. Nick didn’t get to the ball, fell to the turf and hit his head on the same ball. And then he took the ball in his hands for some reason. And then he kicked it away as if nothing had happened. And of course for such a ridiculous stunt Pope immediately saw a red card, because of which he left the field just in the middle of the first half. Nick’s action is hard to explain. Yes, it happens… the goalkeeper made a mistake on the way out, but why did he take the ball in his hands ten metres from the penalty spot? Maybe it’s goalkeeping instinct. But Newcastle would have been better off conceding a third goal, but at least they had the majority of the possession. And also with the main goalkeeper.
