I love when small stories develop within a game. I’m not sure why, but Keane decides to argue with Joe Cole, who in turn gets the better of Keane in a duel later on in the game.
Given the freedom and the chance to be a protagonist, Joe Cole at West Ham was a joy to watch!

  1. Joe Cole was incredible for about 7 years then drifted away. Should of been England's Zidane.

  2. Thing about joe was he was technically brilliant and showed tricks that entertained fan's and for the most part he was a great player.but his ideology that he was trying to become an out an out centre mid was far fetched. He was always an attacking midfielder no.10 if you will who could be used as a left or right midfielder wich englamd done with him alot and the odd time at club level also was too central to be a winger and lacked elite pace and prob was not really physical or big enough he wanst a tackler but bar that he absolutely had everything else pitty his career went abit after leaving chelsea he was never the same again.

  3. If Keane had been English, Cole wouldn't have gotten near a place in midfield.
fancy dan stuff in temporary, Class is permanent

  4. He was a great team player kean, the type lacking in the shite that masquerades as football these days….but…he was a dirrrrrty bastard…😁….i wish everton had a player like him now πŸ˜‚

  5. It is quite rare than a 'free spirited' UK player is nurtured and allowed to continue in that vein within the domestic league – managers are either egotistical wanting to overly 'control' the tactics or they are just plain scared of loosing their jobs because the player takes chances that do not always work – but given time will likely give a higher pay out with experience.

  6. Cole was a brilliant player back then. Always felt his abilities were abit wasted when he went to Chelsea. When given the opportunity to play centrally in a free role though he was a great talent.

  7. Joe Cole had a window of about 18 months when he was one of England's best players for the International team. Sadly it was a very short period but thankfully he was pants by the time he signed for LiVARpool in 2010. He just didn't feel at home there and never bonded with the fans. He said later that joining LiVARpool was a mistake which he regretted. He said that he wasn't welcomed in @ LiVARpool and he felt alone while he was there!!

  8. I'm a Liverpool fan and saw Joe Cole play for West Ham against Sunderland in the F.A. cup – definition of a wonderkid.

What he did in the warm up and the flashes of brilliance in the game, he was exceptional.

West Ham had the best version of Joe, until Mourinho coached him to be more defensive minded.

  9. Keane would be a championship midfielder in this era. The game has moved on. As for Joe Cole, won amazing honours, just a shame injuries had an effect on him in his later career.

  10. Lol, one little flick, you hammers fans are really cluthcing at straws. United won this fame comfortably. Beckham's goal is a lot more remarkable .

  11. No surprise. Keane was never the most skilful player on the pitch. But if you wanted a leader on a warrior on your team, you know who you're going to pick
