New angle of Newcastle goal emerges and Arsenal fans are furious

A new angle has emerged in the lead-up to Newcastle’s goal has emerged and Arsenal fans are furious.

The Magpies picked up all three points at St James’ Park after a feisty encounter with the Gunners, winning 1-0.

Tensions reached boiling point in the first half, with many fans believing Bruno Guimaraes should have been sent off for elbowing Jorginho in the face.

However, VAR weren’t interested in taking a look, angering Arsenal fans at half-time.

VAR then took centre stage once more around the hour mark, after Anthony Gordon gave the Magpies the lead.

Jacob Murphy’s snap-shot looked to be heading out for a goal-kick, but Joe Willock kept the move alive on the touchline, before digging out a cross into Joelinton.

Under pressure from Gabriel Magalhaes, the ball bobbled into the path of Gordon, who smashed it home from close range to send St James’ Park into ecstasy.

A lengthy VAR check then ensued, as officials initially checked if the ball stayed in, before checking if there was a foul on Gabriel and an offside against Gordon.

After a comically long wait, referee Stuart Atwell pointed to the centre circle to confirm the goal.

However, a new angle has since emerged which appears to show the ball was out of play before Willock got there.

  1. I was listening to arsenal commentary and at time of play they were saying oh willock keeps it superbly in play…
Once the goal was scored that got all salty…..

  2. Talk about sour grapes. Arsenal fouled all night . Should have had Havertz sent off. I love to hear Arteta rant ! The most unsporting manager in the league. Arsenal are totally overrated and going to lose the league again !!! Pure passion of the Geordie fans was brilliant.

  4. The Arsenal vs Newcastle match was a turning point whether VAR is God's gift to football or it is only good as a video game. There should be honesty from players who was involved in that moment of time… that is Anthony Gordon himself. Was the ball already out…? VAR didn't see, the referee can't confirm but the game went on resulting into a goal for 'real benefits' to Howe Newcastle. This VAR decision gaffe will not end but look it is already making waves in the Champions League…
