      I'd like to see ESR get a start for England A team! As M Arteta has totally blanked him since ESR helped M Arteta out of an OZIL FIASCO and made that number 10 shirt his own and deservedly got a 5 year contract!!! To be overlooked by the likes of Viera, Havertz and Nelson who don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence!!!!

      It does not matter what outsiders want to see or think should happen. It matters what the manager and coaches see in training week after week and his overall approach. And for the year now that he has been at City he has been deemed not good enough to start in general. Recently in the cup he did start and was awful. I thought he should still play the next game but the staff decided that it was better to play other players when Rodri was suspended. It's insane the double standard that when Utd decide (correctly) to drop Maguire and make him a bench player in a struggling team then he shouldn't start for England but when Phillips is kept out for City for realistically the same reason just not as public, he should get a chance at England.

      Watched Kalvin at City. Not good enough. He always passes to the nearest player to him. Doesn't hold the ball and wait for better options. His passes are basic and rushed. I hope we sell him, the only person he has been hard done by is himself, he's had his chance and he just isn't at the level required. City need a ball retaining midfielder who can play through balls and balls over the top. That isn't Kalvin.

      As a City fan I will always back any player who puts on the shirt and wish them the very best in hoping they succeed.

      However there is clearly an issue with Phillips and you see it every time he puts on the shirt.

      He plays short passes and doesn't make himself available for the ball. If you watch him carefully he holds a position where there is always a player blocking the pass to him and doesn't try find space.

      Now whether that is a fear thing or what I don't know but he just looks like he's playing with fear.

      Typical English bias. Pep doesn’t play him for a reason. He’s not good enough for City’s side and will likely be gone next year. Get over it.
