If Hendo was a peerless, world class talent in his position I could probably understand it…but he's old, his legs have fallen off and there are probably dozens of players that would do a better job.
Southgate is probably twerking for a job in Saudi himself sooner rather then later and I'd imagine keeping Hendo in the squad gives him some credit with figures running the Saudi league m

The best argument for Henderson not being picked for England is that there are better options such as JWP. To argue that he shouldn’t be picked for England because of the league he plays in means that Goldbridge, to be intellectually honest, also believes that Ronaldo, Neymar, Mane, Benzema, Mahrez, Brozovic, Koulibaly, Milinkovic-Savic and many other players should not be picked for their country. I would love to see Goldbridge address this.
England has more than enough talent to win the world cup this coming from a USA fan. and in the end it always comes down to the manager. get any championship manager and put them on Man City and they wont win silverware…
You would think Henderson was some kind of legendary England figure who we simply can't replace and must have him in the squad, even if he no longer trains or competes at a high level.
