The player on everyones lips at the moment is Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford who’s performances have been disappointing with many fans growing more and more frustrated with him. Rashford won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award last season and on the back of that in the summer signed a lucrative new five-year contract worth £300,000 per week. But so far this time around, he has failed to prove himself worthy of it. He is coming off one of his more bright performances but it was still far from perfect and their are still some frailties in his game that do garner some questions…

5 year contract he’s on easy street now
One decent season. Criminally overrated. Wouldn’t get into city or Liverpool teams. Got his new contract and now like a few others there doesn’t give a shit. Greedy beyond belief. I’m sick of him
The problem isn't the form. Everyone goes in and out of form. It's his laziness and selfishness that causes the hate. He needs to grow a pair out there!
Agreed hes not made the right decisions at times. Let's be fair though with the rotation on the side understanding between players gets lost.
Does anyone actually think he should be starting right now though. I actually think his poor form is detrimental to the team, he needs to be coming off the bench and making an impact over the next few games
So when martial sulks he’s a sulker but when rashford sulks he’s a deep thinker.
that comment is embarrassingly biased.
Saw the same silly commentry and so called 'fans' making uneducated demands to drop Marcus last time he was having a poor patch. Didn't see any of them then say 'Thank you' when he basically kept the team in the fight for a Euro place. He's MU through and through and a genuine player that would be missed to the detriment of the club if he was forced out. Keeping real Steve. Thank god there's someone out there that is.
Yeah he’s been poor this season but who hasn’t, these trashford muppets can’t wait to come out the woodwork when he has a dip. You back your own no matter what some of the fan base is as rotten as the glazers
I love Rashford UNITED LEGEND
Marcus has all the talent and pace in the world, but he has no game intelligence whatsoever and plays with his head down. There ain't no changing that now.
Hes an "on his day" player.
Rashford must be the most fouled player without getting a freekick. Effects his moral and his overall game.
I was seriously hopeful that EtH would bring Rene in!
Funny how he played great last season signs a great new fantastic deal then can't play well this season ? ?
Ste, maybe going with national team gets him back in form. His hot streak last year did coincide with his return from the World Cup, and it didn’t really start at the cup but after.
Has Benny McCarthy retired?
Why isnt he able to coach these obvious bad habbits out of him.
He is just not as good as we hoped or many think.i fear last season was deceiving. And his performance always dips when there is pressure or expectation. When not he can be fabulous.
if he played for anyone else we'd have said hes average. just cos hes one of our own doesnt mean we over rate him
I wonder if last season, ten hag left marcus to play his own game. This season, ten hag has maybe asked marcus to play in a different way and he's just lost heart a little bit. In his mind he thinks his game is great, but being asked to play in a different way makes him feel less.
Low footballing IQ syndrome
Has to be one of the lowest football IQ player in the league.
he needs to smile loool
Ok, so let me say this first off, I'm a huge fan of Marcus and agree with the majority of what you say Ste.
Now we need to realise last season he over-achieved (like the rest of the United side) so anyone expecting him to get another 30 goals was always going to be dissapointed, a more realistic number of goals is 20 for the season, lest we forget hes a wide player & Salah aside you dont see many of those bagging over that. Now I do think he's been poor this season (and his starting spot is rightfully under question) however I think there are much larger problems at play here.
You highlighted that Marcus hit his peak (even though he statistically had a better season last time) under Ole and he isnt the only one, Bruno too has been less effective under ETH than he was under our previous manager and I think this needs to raise further questions on the manager, surely he has to be getting his best out of our best players (which Marcus & Bruno arguably are) and build the team around them instead they have been shunted out of position and reduced their effectiveness.
Another thing that I believe is a more pressing concern is out over reliance on Marcus, its almost as if Marcus needs to be bagging in every game if not we struggle.
These are much larger issues than Marcus' form IMO which again I agree has been poor & he does need to be better but there are also extenuating circumstances too.
Rashford is just a counter attacking player. You can't build a team around that type of player. He is a low IQ footballer.
He was meant to be a super sub.
Your literally explaining martial except one is from Manchester. Rashford is a bench player at best
When he gets the ball he’s had tunnel vision a lot of the time. Often getting triple teamed. It’s obvious he’s still not used to playing with Hojlund and knowing how to get him the ball. Whereas with Martial things are much smoother. Hopefully they develop that rapport sooner than later.
Anyone calling for Rashford to be pulled off needs to give their head a shake. There’s NOBODY sitting on that bench that has the potential to get 30+ goals. Mayyyyybe if the midfield and defence would do their job he wouldn’t need to come so far back all the time. he’s definitely off, but pulling him is a crazy way to try to fix that.
Still making wrong decisions , shoot instead of pass and vice versa but there are many in the team doing that at the mo. Goals and wins breed confidence.
Mo tracks back
It's not the lack of form for me, it is his general body language. You have to admit there's lack of willingness and that's annoying to say the least
Rashford is best when he has an in-form Shaw behind him. The cooperation between them is amazing when both of them play with confidence. Our right wingers always were given a free pass because of AWB's lack of help but there is no free pass for Rashy when he has to play with 3rd-4th choice LB's.
As long as we consider 'rashy' as our franchise player/star boy/best attaacker, we will always be just a potential top 4 team. Rashford isnt good enough to be a title winners best attacker with the licence to cheat up top. As a youth player he was never considered generational, just decent and all of a sudden united fans think he is amongst the best attackers in the world, without pace what is there too his game? He cant even curl the football, just blasts it every time. I do think he is good enough to be a starter, but not your main guy, poor decisions all the time
Just have to be realistic……he's a good player, who has short spells of being excellent, but he's not elite. Yet we've paid him like he's Salah or KdB for 6 years.
Excuses
He's done this his entire utd career, excellent one season missing for 2
He’s desperately missing a left back partner. Benefited a ton from Luke Shaw bombing down the flank with him last year.
On my recommended page on YouTube, I came across some videos from Flex at TUS interviewing various guests after various results.
The videos were from 4 years ago, and I remember I said various guests after various results. One of the constant issues during these videos was the performance of Marcus Rashford. "he runs into blind alleys, " he shoots when he should pass," "he doesn't get his head up". We're now in 2023, and we're having the same conversations about one of the best paid players at the club.
We gave him his praises for the goals he scored last season. However, lots of us also said, "if he's not scoring, we dont get performances from him.
The guy is lacking so many basics of football, and there's always an excuse. When he's not scoring goals, he's either "injured" or "low on confidence" – this channel would never give the same grace to Martial. The pass that he messed up for Bruno v Gala wasn't a lack of confidence, it's something that he does, and he picks the wrong option OFTEN.
The only guaranteed consistent thing about Rashford is that he's gonna be inconsistent.
Usually agree with Howson, but off the mark with some comments. Mo Salah works really hard off the ball every time ive watched him, and way more dangerous than Rashford on the ball. Rashy is a good player and on his day a very good player. He's not a main man for a top team, but he's been asked to do that role and gotten the wages to do so (not his fault)
My issue with Rashford is his decision making has been poor. Not only that, the biggest issue I have is with him playing as a LF, yes he should be allowed to cheat. But when the team is really suffering defensively, I think everyone should be pulling their weight, yes that might be ETH decision, but for me just run around like a headless chicken and at least show the effort to press. Which for me apart from arsenal and Bayern, I'm yet to see him do
I’ve been saying for a while rashford is indecisive. He needs to read the game and be aware a whole lot better
He's a good player for a West Ham or Everton but he's not a top player. Likely never win the league with players of his quality. Like a Vardy or Walcott mid level player.
He’s nothing but a Fraud
