Stephen Warnock and Sue Smith discussed Arsenal on ‘The Football Show’ following their 1-0 win over Everton.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta revealed he “regrets” not trusting his instincts to change goalkeepers during games in the past after dropping Aaron Ramsdale on Sunday.

Ramsdale’s run of starting every Premier League game since March 2022 was abruptly ended when he was replaced by David Raya in goal for Arsenal’s win at Everton on Super Sunday.

When explaining his reasoning for dropping Ramsdale for the first time, Arteta said he treated the goalkeeping position as any other – even to the point where he has considered changing ‘keeper midway through games in the past.

  1. "Ramsdale looked like he was just told the morning that he would not start and looked disappointed". It's good to know we have Jedi at Skysports who know how to manipulate the force and can sense how a person feels just by looking at them.

  2. It makes perfect sense, a keeper is sitting there for a long period of time, mostly not doing anything (specifically for the big teams) it's only normal that he would loose focus and a substitution around the 70 mins mark makes absolute Sense.

  3. pundits are not experts in body language and mind reading and analysis of players…i think they should be threading carefully in not killing prayers moral and confidence

  4. Suddenly there are so many experts trying to advise Arteta. The same experts who questioned him when he brought in Ramsdale at the expense of Leno are questioning him when he brings in Raya. The same pundits who laughed out the price tag for Ben White feel like they can advise Arteta. Let him be; he is cooking up a revolution that will change mindsets forever. So far no one is giving a good reason why he cannot swap the keepers mid game except that it is not done that way. Both Ramsdale and Raya plus supporters and pundits just require mindset change! Arteta brought himself this success against all odds. I doubt that he would deliberately mess it up. Rotational goalkeepers all the way!

  5. And in two years time those same people are sitting there discussing why Liverpool, Tottenham, ManU or Chelsea only have one quality goalkeeper in their team, like it its the most normal thing ever.

  6. Yet to understand what this fuss is all about, are you guys saying a manager can’t change is midfield or striker to advantage in a game? Ramsdale back up last season is USA number one keeper with Nottingham Forest if you must know … they are both good and will definitely have different qualities, u don’t expect Arteta to come and tell you that im sure 🤦🏽

  7. Martinelli with a killer pass ?? Which Arsenal are you watching. Passing is his worst artibute he plays with his head in the ground, beating players and scoring goals definitely, trossard is the one with the killer pass, with both on the field is something magical, that left side is absoultely dangerous

  8. No one has an answer so it’s just speculation and conjecture. Arteta would have been clear about his vision. It’s always about the team and if your not on board then you can leave. He is trying to make us stronger and unpredictable. The style of play doesn’t change he wants dominance it’s just the players he uses.

  9. I'm not sure about rotating a goalkeeper. Other players can fill in for other positions, but goalkeepers can only fight for a single spot. I think that is too much stress and pressure, and you risk that player losing their sense of being a part of a team.
