  1. The issue is though that a lot of the criticism Maguire has received has been abusive.

Also where do we draw the line of criticism if it’s born out of an agenda or being used a scapegoat?

Largely, the issue is that football fans have no clue what goes on behind the scenes. We’re not privy to so much information that it’s almost quite ignorant to even try and form and kind of opinion.

For example, Maguire is clearly not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. He’s probably largely respected by his teammates, coaches and other members of staff around the training ground at club and country.

I imagine he’s a good professional who trains well and sets a standard amongst his peers.

I’m seeing the same thing starting to happen at my club with Kai Havertz. He could make a mistake that any other player has made but because the narrative at the moment seems to be ‘Havertz is useless’ it seems to get magnified.

Clearly he’s not useless, he’s a talented footballer who has been selected countless times by every manager he’s had so far.

Considering his managers are the ones that see him from day to day and set the tactics I’m inclined to believe that he’s clearly a very good professional footballer
