Dying breed a defender doing what defending stands for,not a defender hiding behind stats that doesn't define what his purpose being in the defence is supposed to bring to his team's success,Maldini,Nesta,Canavaro,Puyol,Ramos,Chielini,Pepe,Lucio,Vidic & Kompany were not hiding behind passing stats & playing out from the back nonsense,defenders should defend & let the midfielders dictate the passing & other build up play stats. Primary role of any defender should be to stop attacking threats getting to his goalkeeper & if he is good at passing as well that should be a bonus advantage.
When City signed him, people doubted him, those people have now been made to look silly. Such an important player for us, so physical, has such courage and heart and is such a great leader.
I wonder why he was dropped after his great performance vs liverpool. Need him starting when the PL re-starts
