  1. Brooks made several bad decisions: 1)not calling foul on Trent by Gordon, 2) Gordon kicking the ball away right as Trent was about to get booked for the same reason, 3) Joelinton gesturing for the yellow card twice for Trent n for Virgil, 4) no card for Joelinton’s umpteen fouls n couple of cynical fouls on Gakpo to list a few. Where is his disciplinary punishments for not doing his job? The officials routinely get away w/ bad calls which directly impacts teams but they don’t even want players to react? Oh plz, they have all the powers on the pitch. All VVD said was the call was “f***ing joke.” Not a bad assessment of his job if you ask me.

  2. Everyone in the comments section are literal crybabies. Whether he thought the foul/card was correct or not, he shouldn't have berated the ref. Its that simple. Now he definitely wont have it rescinded. I'd be willing to bet my house that if he had been silent and walked off the pitch and accepted the outcome, Liverpool would have successfully appealed the sending off.

  3. They talk about the foul like it was GBH; it was a slight mistimed tackle. I think football loses out because they don't have time penalties like other sports. It doesn't make sense when an awful out of control tackle has the same punishment as that tackle. Something like that should be a 10-15 minute penalty for the player because it's a goalscoring opportunity. It's only an goal opportunity; he still has to beat the keeper.

  4. I am a Liverpool fan and he deserved the red card even though it was a great tackle. Give him an extra game but players are not robots and they will have emotions. At the same time refereeing needs to be consistent

  5. The problem started decades ago with every player screaming a pushing the officials. Look at how rugby officials handle games and are treated by players, that’s where it would be great to get to but giving players a pass because it’s a big name player is bs, lay down the law and players and managers will fall in line.

  6. Refs re over protected n it’s disgusting to see, they get away with bad decisions everytime, n u expect the players not to react like they re not humans. They re turning players n coaches to robots, this will kill the passion in the game, the angry reactions re part of what makes football interesting. The world is going softer everyday.

  7. Just like players, referees should also be banned for really bad decisions. That way everyone will be happy. But I doubt such laws will ever come.

  8. This is jjust Burley and a little frenchman taliking S**t as usual. I actually thought for once that Burley would stop his shouting and try to take a balanced view. I'm wrong again. Pity. As for the little frenchman… He just talks drivel all the time.

  9. Someone around me in the Newcastle end said vvd got the ball first so not everyone in Black and White shirts in the crowd think it's a red card. I do but Arnold's first yellow ask has the referee ever played the game cause Arnold maybe tried to pass the ball to one of our players to get the game restarted. If he thinks it was directed at another player it should be red for violent conduct but I think from this moment the officials lost the plot

  10. They are human, as simple as that and when situations like that arise any normal person would have an outburst. But these pundits behave as if they are above it all.

  11. Craig is stubbornly stupid.. its not a reckless nor a clear goal scoring opportunity. And the Joke VAR will follow referees decision most often. For instance,If the referee had given yellow for the foul, VAR would have supported the award.

  12. Mr. Burley, of course Virgil will argue his point, because the referee got the call wrong, same as you. Not a red card , one must have control of the ball in order to have a goal scoring opportunity, look again.
