Joelinton being warned by the ref about previous fouls then proceeds to make a worse foul minutes later. A free kick is given but no card. Its was an embarrassing afternoon for the ref
On a completely different topic. This is a great conversation on the men’s game by two ex pros with all the experience and knowledge to be able to talk about a classic premier league match in this way. The enthusiasm of both of these guys is infectious and makes for a great listen. So with all due respect and I mean that, why is there a push to replace men pundits like these guys who are the best at at what they do, with women. I just don’t get it.

This ref timewasting and showing them respect is a load of nonsense. You have to earn in it for respect and the referees in this country are all in it too make themselves headlines. Making Howard Webb the top dog is a joke too. We all know his history.
Lol but a goals scoring opp is always prevented by a defender getting the ball in a challenge!
When a keeper goes through a man, but touches the ball…its never given as a foul….the fact he got the ball in the same movement is considered legal! Same with a slide tackle! VVD talk the ball and the man tumbled as a consequence, and didn’t touch the ball!

Why are we even talking about this again? Of course it was a foul on Trent and yet again the ref has been abysmal. Why aren't we talking about the refs?
Whatever the reason Trent threw the ball away, he should have been off a 2 minute later
If we are being really honest with ourselves throwing that ball away was just stupid becasue and we could all bet our houses on this the Newcastle player collecting the ball would have taken about 5 seconds looking for a thrown in only to hand the ball off to next next player by which time Trent is back up in place and had a brew before the ball re-enters play. Such is the way of the game. Next time be angry you got a crap call but just don't throw the ball away
Trent was on his final warning 5 minutes into the game due to 3 refereeing mistakes.
You can't help but feel this played a part in the opening goal.
Justice was done in the end but the next incompetent refereeing performance is coming soon – and this time it will be YOUR team on the end of it.

if that was a booking it would of been end of the matter plus trent pushed the ball
towards the line and the ball was off the pitch at the time.
If it was wan bissaka, you will talk all day cus he is not human but with Trent it’s okay. Trent is just fortunate to play under a great coach he does not always defend well once he meets his match

Ive heard a LOT of refs say they dont like giving out yellows early and red as they then feel like they've got nowhere to go and the match will get out of control and they'll have to book everyone for the same challenge. im explaining it terribly but they dont like sending off and giving cards early or they feel they'll lose control of the game when you start handing cards out willy nilly. They get told this. Try not to book people early specially not sendings off for two yellows. its in their training. match control or whatever they call it.
why didnt kyle walker get a card for breaking the screen after the goal, but trent gets a card for throwing the ball after he was clearly pushed.

When he runs by Trent a few minutes later Trent momentarily puts his hand on his shoulder, Gordon launches himself sideways up in the air & rolls 3 times.
Trent wasn't lucky to stay on, Gordon is a rat of a player & tried to get him sent off. His cheating failed. That's what actually happened.
Trent got a yellow supposedly for wasting time. IN THE FIFTH MINUTE OF THE GAME!!!! JESUS CHRIST. He should have gotten himself a freekick in the first place, let alone get a a yellow for slightly throwing the ball a few feet. I mean the ref yesterday was shocking. How does he have a conscious when he cant see a man shove another man in the back off the pitch?
If you accept Trent deserves a yellow from the ref for throwing the ball even when he was fouled and when Virg clearly wins the ball and gets a red card then you need to accept the referees decision that it wasn't a second yellow card for Trent pushing Gordon.❤😂

Why does McCoist insist that intent has to be a factor in the Van Dijk red card? The foul was committed outside the penalty box and denied a clear goal scoring opportunity so the question of whether it was a genuine attempt to win the ball is irreleveant

How was Gordon not booked for pushing Trent Alexander-Arnold to the sidelines? It was clear foul yet the referee for some reason doesn't see it, plus why didn't lineman, 4th official or VAR doesn't tell referee about that foul.

When trent shoved Gordon, Eddie was calling for a booking. Why wasn't he booked they need to be consistent. I honestly think their will really bad refereeing this season
Anthony Gordon should have been called for the initial foul and yellow carded for dangerous play shoving TAA in the back sending him flying into the outfield. Then there wouldn't have been TAA's reaction!
Sijnce when is it ok to barge a player in the back and make no attempt to get the ball, Should have been a yellow for Gordan. Justice was done in this game in the end though.

If you talk about letter of the law – the law states its a red if its a denial of goal scoring opportunity, not denial of a potential of a goal scoring opportunity. I dont deny its a red card but just pointing out the fact if you want to go by letter of the law then you cannot give a red card.

Yeah that ref was so bright. Eight minutes into a game Liverpool obviously wanted to win and the ref thinks Liverpool are trying to waste time. Just brainless.
Trent was fouled 100% he should have not reacted and been booked. As a result he was petrified going anywhere near Gordon thereafter which made him look half decent. Thats probably his best game this season shame his team ended up loosing. 😉
Football is a contact sport. There was no malice in the tackle. There is no absolute guarantee that Isaak would have scored.the decision was harsh. The officiating has been very contentious.
