Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been warned that the Reds should only pursue a deal for midfielder Kalvin Phillips if the price is right, due to his limited game time at Manchester City. Phillips joined City in a £45 million deal from Leeds United last summer but made only 12 appearances in the league, with just two starts. Liverpool are in need of midfield reinforcements after losing Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League. Klopp is known to be a fan of Phillips, but former Liverpool player Danny Murphy has doubts about the potential transfer. Murphy believes that if Liverpool were seen to be signing a player from City who couldn’t get much playing time, it may not go down well. However, Murphy does think Phillips is talented and could provide good cover for Liverpool in midfield. Klopp had previously considered making a move for Phillips and has reignited interest after missing out on other midfield targets. It remains to be seen if Phillips would be open to a move away from City, as he previously expressed his intention to stay and fight for his place in the team.
