Man United have been linked with a move for the Bayern Munich defender who knows Varane from international duty.
Benjamin Pavard was quick to comment on Raphael Varane’s social media post after the Manchester United defender scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Wolves on Monday night.
Varane was the surprise winner as United kicked off their 2023/24 Premier League campaign with three points and a clean sheet. Erik ten Hag’s side were second best on the night, struggling to contain an electric Wolves outfit who did everything but score.
United showed their clinical edge with a lovely piece of play that led to the winning goal midway through the second half. Bruno Fernandes dinked a beautiful pass through to Aaron Wan-Bissaka whose lofted cross found Varane to head home from close range.
United survived a late onslaught and a penalty scare to secure the win, and Varane took to Instagram shortly after full-time to celebrate.
Among those to respond to the defender was former French international teammate Pavard, who posted two fire emojis in the comments.
Speaking of Pavard, he’s been the talk of the town at Old Trafford. Manchester United’s defensive aspirations are sky-high, especially if Harry Maguire’s departure materializes. Reports suggest a £30 million deal is in the works, but the ink is yet to dry.
The club are said to have made contact with a list of options to replace him, Pavard among them.
The 27-year-old is thought to be keen on a move, but United remain short of Bayern’s £35million valuation.

  1. Lisandro was overwhelmed by the Wolves attack, through the center hole. it was necessary for Ten Hag to recruit Amrabat. And I think Mount is more appropriate to play on the wing.

  2. Casemiro is on of the Best CSM of the world against an electric Wolves side… He's human at all!
I would like to see Martinez as CDM! Lindelof can play very well as a CB.
