Liverpool Ought To Disrupt The Transfer Replacement Plan For Josko Gvardiol.

Levi Colwill has been among Liverpool’s top priorities for this summer’s transfer window, despite not receiving much recognition while at Chelsea. However, this week, Jürgen Klopp’s pursuit of Colwill came to an end as the English center-back agreed to sign a new contract with Chelsea.
As a result, Liverpool will now have to explore other options in the transfer market, particularly for a left-footed defender. Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joël Matip, and Ibrahima Konaté are all right-footed, putting Klopp at a disadvantage compared to other English managers.
Meanwhile, other clubs have already secured left-footed defenders, such as Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Aké at Manchester City, Gabriel Magalhães and Jakub Kiwior at Arsenal, Lisandro Martínez at Manchester United, Sven Botman at Newcastle United, and Pau Torres at Aston Villa.
There is a limited number of left-footed defenders available, and Joško Gvardiol is considered among the best choices. The Croatian international, only 21 years old, has shown remarkable maturity beyond his years, possessing natural defensive qualities and offering great value in ball possession.
Gvardiol is known to be a devoted Liverpool fan, as he once expressed in an interview with Croatian news outlet 24Sata, stating his desire to play in the Premier League and for Liverpool.
While Gvardiol would be an exceptional addition to Anfield, his price tag might be problematic. RB Leipzig, recognizing his value, expects to receive a record-breaking amount to sell him. Manchester City’s reported interest in Gvardiol has led RB Leipzig to search for possible replacements, such as Castello Lukeba, a 20-year-old left-footed defender currently with Lyon.
RB Leipzig recently made a new bid for Lukeba, believed to be around $35 million (£28 million/€32 million) with a sell-on clause. Whether Lyon will accept the proposal remains to be seen, but RB Leipzig’s interest in the talented defender could capture Klopp’s attention.
RB Leipzig, part of the famous Red Bull network, along with Red Bull Salzburg in Europe, is renowned for discovering hidden gems from across the continent and beyond. Players from these clubs are typically fast, intense, proactive, athletic, and highly promising.
In fact, Liverpool has previously recruited several players who passed through the Red Bull system since Klopp’s appointment eight years ago. Players like Konaté, Sadio Mané, Naby Keïta, Takumi Minamino, and Dominik Szoboszlai were all associated with the energy drink company before becoming regulars at Anfield.
Under normal circumstances, Liverpool might wait for a more mature version of Lukeba in the future. However, with Klopp urgently needing a left-footed defender for the upcoming campaign, Liverpool could disrupt RB Leipzig’s transfer plans and bring the talented Lyon wonderkid to Merseyside this summer.
