All of Mesut Ozil’s key passes to Giroud in the 2015/16 season. Most people believe that Giroud robbed Ozil of the premier league assist record in this season. Do you still agree after watching this?

  1. Hello! I just wanted to say, I do not usually put my own opinion into my videos, but I am doing so here. Because, this is maybe the most incorrect commonly spread idea in football that is widely accepted!

I have many times found all the key passes of certain players, and I can tell you truthfully, that no matter the player or the team he plays on, I have never seen this high a proportion key passes result in goals as what I see in this video.

I am not saying that Giroud in 2015/16 was good or bad. But i am saying that Giroud on the end of Ozil passes in 2015/16 was very good. in my opinion.

  2. Let’s be honest , giroud is an amazing player but did he fall short in this season ? Yesss
Because chances after chances missed… he wasn’t clinical enough towards the end of the season …

If I wanna take some blame off giroud I could say some of ozils passes weren’t exactly advantages passes but in the end , he’s the forward .. you get a pass in the box … you have to put it in , simple …

  3. Nah man, watch the games

I watched every single one and the problem wasn’t his finishing, the problem was his inability to get on the end of some very good passes. He was far too slow for a lot of chances Özil and other players created for him. We would have won the league with a good striker

  4. As an ex arsenal fan …

In other words someone who was a fan of arsenal while at time of whenever and even emery….

I just want to say i never blamed Giroud

Rather i blamed the rest of arsenal cast who didn't even care to shoot

Giroud always made the most of what he was presented with

  5. Ozil is overrated, through passes are his only thing, just like Odegaard Arsenal's style benefits him and covers his weakness

  6. Bro there were many passes of Ozil that Giroud couldn't even read and there also wasn't much combination in that Arsenal team like Real Madrid had..

  7. As I know is more that Arsenal just does not fit his playstile and if he would have stayed with ronaldo at real madrid he now might have been a Ballon d’Or winner and the best assister ever lived, if he isnt this alredy.

  8. I watched every Arsenal game that season & I still believe to this date OG sold & choke in the latter half of the season. I even looked at the stats deeply and SMH it's very telling…
it's like the football gods said OG had to stay on his lane & actual level…he's a great player but he ain't that guy you ice the cake with.

OG was on par with his XG & G per 90 that season but reached his XG total by Week 18-20. Meaning, he was exceeding & outperforming his pre-season forecast until December…
It baffles me how his goalscoring would ghost him & leave us in a drought for nearly 15 games. Alongside with the drop in form of Alexis, Ozil's chance at the assist record was shot.

You need to look at the other side of the equation if you're talking that season. Ozil's big chances created was at 28 that season. 19 converted into assists. He was on par with his best seasonal A per 90. Arsenal fizzled out of the title race by week 33 so we did not see his best in the latter stages that year. Ozil's chance creation and final third passing % was off the charts and statistically by January Week 19 onwards he should have broken the record. Literally every playmaking stat, Ozil was top.

I suspect the injury of Alexis & Welbeck that year meant every defense knew that M10 could not create an outlet via long balls & through balls. So they marked OG – the target man.

OG's conversion rate dropped after December to his total of 0.42 with a shooting accuracy of 43%. Ended that season with just 16 goals for such a fantastic striker in his prime with a dream playmaker.
But what upsets me the most, Giroud missed the other chances created for him that was not by Ozil. He was supposed to score at least 20+ goals that year but for some reason he averaged out in the second half.

So in the end, Giroud was still a major culprit IMO to why Mesut was stuck at 19 assists.

  9. Its not that He didn't perform. He was decent.
But as an Arsenal fan who watched him play, we know how much talent was there backing him, and how many good chances he missed. He had good positioning, that of a proper striker, still he missed. With the chances he got, I'm sure RVP would've got the golden boot by a Mountain of a gap.
People who say we treated him too harsh, are not Arsenal fans, or they haven't seen him play for us. Simple as that.

  10. Not at all. Özil and Giroud were a good pair together and Giroud gave Özil assists aswell. Özil only got higher assist tallies with Ronaldo in his career. I find that Arsenal fans on Twitter get proper loud as if Giroud hasn’t had a much better trajectory than them since leaving the club and has won things their club hasn’t in 2 decades now or perhaps ever (a league title at Milan in Serie A) and the Champions League at Chelsea, Europa League on their head in Baku
