We rounded off pre-season by beating Monaco 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, with Gabriel netting the all-important spot-kick to seal the silverware.
Arsene Wenger was the guest of honour on the night as two of his former clubs went head to head, and French international Youssouf Fofana opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, however captain for the day Eddie Nketiah managed to restore parity just before the break when he converted a Gabriel Martinelli corner.
Another 45 minutes failed to separate the sides, meaning a shootout was required to decide the destiny of the trophy and we managed to convert all five of our efforts, with Aaron Ramsdale saving from Takumi Minamino to ensure we lifted the trophy for the seventh time.
A packed house were treated to first Emirates Stadium starts in our colours for Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice, but proceedings took a while to warm up with Aaron Ramsdaleβs low save from an Aleksandr Golovin shot the only thing for the 60,000 in attendance to get excited by in the opening quarter.
Martinelli was looking sharp however, and the Brazilian was involved in all our best moments of the opening 45 minutes, including an intricate passing move that involved Rice, Fabio Vieira and Nketiah, but the striker was in an offside position when he headed narrowly over.
Nketiah went close again after Martinelli tricked his way past right-back Vanderson and got to the byline but the opportunity went begging, and on 31 minutes we slipped behind when Vanderson found himself at the other end, and his cross-shot was diverted into the top corner by the head of Fofana, leaving Ramsdale helpless.
The setback seemed to sharpen us up, and we found ourselves in the attacking third much more regularly in the final stages of the half, creating a flurry of chances that would see us get back on level terms before the break.
On 42 minutes Takehiro Tomiyasu found Rice on the edge of the box who nudged it past two defenders to seemingly look destined to score, but an excellent sliding challenge by Guillermo Maripin blocked his shot.
Then from the resulting corner, Tomiyasuβs powerful header was excellently pushed over his crossbar by Philipp Koln, but the opposition shot-stopper was powerless to prevent us scoring seconds later.
Another Martinelli flag kick was sent towards the back post, and Nketiah ghosted between two defenders to create the simple task of tucking the ball into the net to mark his moment with the armband in style.
Arteta opted not to change his line-up at the interval, but his troops started sluggishly and were fortunate not to fall behind again when Caio Henrique sped down the left and centred for Wissam Ben Yedder who slid in and struck the post, with the rebound ricocheting off the back of Ramsdale but trickled the right side of the post.
Just after the hour mark the pack was shuffled and amongst seven changes Kai Havertz was brought on for his first taste of the Emirates as an Arsenal player, and two other replacements went close soon after.
Leandro Trossard scampered through a hole in the defence searching for his fourth goal of the summer but drove the ball straight at Kohn, with Martin Odegaard curling over from the edge of the area as he attempted his trademark strike.
But the Emirates Cup remained in the balance and only a flying Ramsdale save prevented Monaco going back ahead when Myron Boadu blasted goalwards, while at the other end a decent Vieira downwards volley had to be tipped over by Kohn, meaning penalties would be needed to decide the victor.

There's only one tweak to Nketiah's game and he'll be a beast. "Confidence". Be the bully. Once he can trust his ability, physicality and pace, boy will cook!
That goal we conceded, was it Martinelli's vault? I think so. Can we blame him? That's a completely different matter. He's a striker whose primary job is to attack and score/assist as much goals as possible
Jorginho pass to Trossard is really crucial and brilliant. Unfortunately, finishing is not impressive.
Fabio viera need to be sold, last season he played almost every EL games and proves nothing, Arteta must accept that Viera is flop,,,
Ramsdale is already panicking because of the new keeper's news
arsenal needs good no 9 striker.
Once again the sort of silly goals Arsenal will likely be conceding during the season
We need a goal-hungry striker…
Eddie shows that he is still not giving up and put a scoresheet there. If its not for him, we lost the game. So many hate he got. I would still give him a chance though.
The excellence preseason performance and consistently good game play make us believe season 2023/2024 is our year in EPL Champions and domestic double with FA Cup final win… in Europe UCL we already book the final game… still it will be a great moment of the seasons…
NKetiah Bapukkk di juall full Saleee…π π π
Nobody strikes a ball like viera
Eddie Nketiah is underrated. He reminds me a lot of Giroudβ€
Thats was great, but we need a deputy Saka, vieira somehow wasted that last crosses into the box..
This was one of the shittiest games I've seen in recent times…. Almost all the players down tooled and made themselves very easy to be dominated.
Fabio have better breakdown every get ball, fall fall and fall.
I think this guy must build the body or he must leave soon. Too many fall in , not PL player type
Ramsdale in trouble
Trossard is a classy player!
Still need a striker.
Tomiyasu is more comfortable as rb both attacking and defensively he almost let rice score his debut goal
Good job eddie, great contribution everyone. Good luck on Sunday, if we dont make mistakes, they dont score
we are not looking sharp at all.
I've never rated Nketiah but i see why Arteta favors him,he's got a very good mentality and he probably wants to prove people wrong…Anyone else notices Fabio Viera doesn't get bullied that much anymore π
I wonder why arsenal wanted to sell partey, nketiah also plays some vital role in this team they should let him prove it again.ππ
Nketiah messi selebretion
We really need to raise our Levels.nketiah and Fabio needs a mention
Liburan saka yang tepat
Nketiah on fire, Trossard always in form… terrorizing defenders like nobody's Business…Fabio Vieira is also playing really good, hope the good form continues π, he's improved alot…he should now become better and better, game by game…good performance from everyone ofcoz, the new signings are really adapting very fast,a 5 star performance for both Declan Rice and Jurian Timber…it was a good game…good atmosphere in The Emirates Stadium…up next… Man City
this team is so exciting…i hope we beat city its been long since we won against them.
Wot no pens?
Trossard should've passed back to Eddie would've been an easy goal
nketiah overall game was frustrating to watch
and ESR shld get to fitness quick or be sold
That Trossard one was a bit selfish tho. Should've been Eddie's 2nd
Goal was reminiscent of Theirry ownri against Brazil ~ world cup 2006
I know we must have some outgoing transfers but I really hope we can keep Eddie. Easily worth 30million I donβt think we should let him go though he has a bright future
Veira looks more confident..where is Zinchenko by the way
Brilliant from Eddieπ
