Feel sorry for Andy Robertson as I think he could well have been Captain or at least vice. Is this strategy from Klopp to keep Trent invested if he has to play fullback more often than in midfield where he clearly flourishes

Would've taken Robbo Mo or Trent as VC.
Robbo has the armband for Scotland, mo has had it for Egypt, whereas trent has been overlooked completely by Southgate. Its nice seeing Klopp give it to a player he has had such a massive influence on. Trent has done a lot for the side and does deserve it. Also doesnt make robbo or salah or any of the rest of the leadership group less important.

I would have preferred to see Mo, Robbo or Ali as captain and vice captain. Trent needs to improve the defensive part of his game and overall positioning before you can consider him as a vice captain.
