It’s time for Tac and my quarterly prediction video of the USMNT’s 2026 World Cup Roster. Since our last prediction, Gregg Berhalter has been rehired, and international rosters have moved back to 23 instead of 26. Obvious names like Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, Yunus Musah, Gio Reyna and Tim Weah aren’t up for debate, but there’s lots of spots where it isn’t quite so clear.

Looks like a good young team to build on for 2026. I expect good things from Concacaf teams in 2026: Four R16s (USA, Mexico, Canada and Panama) and a couple of QF berths. Semi Finals is still out of reach in my opinion but with the US being at home, they will have the best shot at it.
Paxton having a better shot than Brendan is a joke. Maybe I’m wrong but very dismal in his call up last spring.
I think that part of how Berhalter got this job, twice now, is that he agrees to represent MLS frequently and consistently. US Soccer, I’m convinced, is a marketing arm of MLS. Exactly one-third of the 2022 WC roster were MLS guys. Berhalter could be the only candidate that promises to commit to this example.
I would still keep Zendejas.

I am much more interested in what YOU think we should do, NOT Gregg. Maybe have a slide at the very end highlighting how you think how's Gregg's will be different, but the focus should be on what you see as our best options. The ONLY way to elevate the soccer IQ of our fans is to tell truth and not a lot of time on what MLS backers will likely demand.
I like when you guys compare rosters you think Greg would take versus rosters that you guys would take. Not optimistic with Gregg but let's hope the guys are playing good enough or the decisions are self-evident rather than judgment decisions
