      Villa, in terms of size, following, and support is about the six largest clubs in England (removing Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday from the mix). We have Manchester United, followed by Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, followed by a bunch of clubs in which Villa is a part of the debate. I have no doubt that with their success, in a few years (when this new generation obtains purchasing power) MC might be up there, but for now, they are not.

      Purslow was out of favour at villa since departure of Gerrard. When Emery was signed it was Naseef Sawaris shaking hands with Emery. Purslow was no where in the picture. So, you cant blame Emery for the departure of Purslow.

      kewon is offended emery didn't worship at his feet when he joined arsenal. These ex-footballers need to get it through their heads that they don't own their previous clubs; they're just the past. A certain class of 92 is guilty of this as well.

      There has been a number of instances over Purslow's tenure that did not work. Also there was something not quiet right. The Owners would have told him that his tenure was up at the end of the season.

      By the way Rick parry is the gatekeeper to the prem league because he is now head of the football league.

      Do you think Fergie didn't have full control of Utd, Pep, Arsene…..Emery is maticulous, Villa did well to bring him in. Unfortunately, this was not down to Purslow! The owners sacked Gerrard for the good of the club and they chose Emery, I'm guessing they have chosen Monchi as well. Saying all that Purslows 5 year plan worked, he helped get us up, maintain our status and left us in Europe, and progressed the clubs ambitious 60k expansion of VP so, I thank him for that. Let's have more full control from Emery, like West Ham, this club is crying out for a trophy, any trophy and needs to do whatever it takes to get one!

      Purslow explained away the panic buy of Danny Ings as part of the Grealish trilogy replacement. Also failed with Gerrard. Maybe time for him to move on.

      Such lazy researchers. If they took any interest in clubs who aren't City, Utd, Pool or in London they would know his responsibilities changed because Villa employed a new Commercial executive (Chris Herd) 2 solely focus on that part of villa. His responsibilities changed & villa offered CP a new executive position but he said no. He wants to be the CEO but now the club is changing its structure.

      People seem to forget emery is a self made millionaire without football and he also owns his own football club the man is alot more then just a good manager

      Give Emery all the control he likes, if he knows what he's doing then thats the best policy. Look at Man Utd under Ferguson, he basically run Utd and they were head and shoulders above everyone else when he was in control.

      So he should have his choices granted and his opinion listened to the guys a serial winner barring arsenal, the guy hasn’t failed anywhere if u even class arsenal as a failure considering wenger had just left at the time. What his done at villa in a short time with one signing so far, his choices in regards to getting rid of ings etc bringing luiz back in being the main man aswell. Give the man wtf he wants.

      Who says Emery has said all this? Sawaris picked Emery over Purslow’s head. The Gerrard appointment was Purslow’s final nail in the coffin
