Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy tweeted a list of players that LFC are considering as Fabinho replacements: Kalvin Phillips (Man City), Sofyan Amrabat (Fiorentina), Romeo Lavia (Southampton) and Ryan Gravenberch (Bayern). Let’s talk about them, look at Fabinho’s 22/23 stats and take a closer look at Rodri, Declan Rice, Florentino Luis and Edson Alvarez to see what Liverpool should do next.

  1. Think our OG transfer plan was to bring in Lavia as last piece but when the Saudi's start offering big money it def peaks interest for everyone. Now I think we are scrambling a bit. I would not sell Fabinho but if he goes def think Amrabat is a good addition. Kalvin Phillips would be interesting. His ceiling is probably the highest but he is a risk. I think most likely is sell Fab, keep Hendo, buy Lavia and Ambrabat. Piece it together from there.

  2. Barella would be great.

Fabinho has not just had a bad season, he has had a horrrndous season.
    Slow on the recovery
    Slow on the uptake
    Slow moving into position,
And worst of all he has been LAZY this season.
When he looses the ball or a player runs past him, he is not back tracking and tryingbto recover the ball.
He just stands there, or walks back.

That is not just off form . . . . That is DISRESPECTFUL and LAZY.

    Glad he is going!

  3. Stefan Bajcetic is 6’1”, he’s our Fabiniago next season, assuming he’s fully recovered. If he’d not been injured last season, I’ve got a feeling he’d have got himself either in serious contention or Fabinho’s place in the starting 11

  4. If Liverpool aren’t careful, they’re going to become Arsenal of the last few years. If Szoboszlai and MacAlister don’t develop into WC mids and if they don’t hit on this replacement, they’ll be in trouble. A bunch of expensive, mid-table players in the league (Szo, Mac, Nunez, Diaz, etc.) and battling for 5th. All the while, Arsenal have been spending money like crazy on Rice, Havertz, Timber, and whoever else they bring in for over €230 million. Liverpool really screwed up. They should have been at this last season, spending whatever necessary to lock up Jude, Rice, and an extra like Mac.

  5. Now way Philips, Ambarat I would pass on….Lavia 19, he's the one to take the chance on, great pass percentage in a shite squad that was under pressure……Southampton has very rarely let us down…..Trent is Hybrid, we have the new boys and VVD will be also keeping Lavia settled….%100 Lavia, reward is to great not to go with him..

  6. Totally agree at the moment looking a good window but i think I would keep Fabinho and Hendo. I just can’t seeing us replacing them with the quality required. Imagine if we could of got Rice that would of been our midfield sorted for another 5 years and probably becoming the best midfield in the league.

  7. I find it amazing people will have the opinion that Lavia is too inexperienced, but then turn around and say we should sign Colwill for more money who has played less football lol.

  8. I like Alvarez cause if we carry on playing the 3-2-2-3 formation this season he has both experience as CB as well as playing CDM. Apart from them him I like the experience of Amrabat (great World Cup and UEFA conference campaign) but I also like the look of Florentino Luis. I’ll be happy with any of these additions or maybe 2 of them 🙏😆 (Along with Levi Colwill) Cheers! 🤝

  9. Joao Palhinha would be 1st choice for whats available only downside is his age other than that hes top notch and has all the attributes we need but because of his age and fee dont think will sign him, think Lavia and Kone are more likely to be signed as replacements for Fabinho and Hendo which I wouldnt be disappointed with.

  10. Totally agree, it’s going to mess us up again if we get this wrong. The list that’s been blatantly put into the media is very mediocre.

Only Lavia stands out and he’s still just a kid!! Same age as Bajtetic who we wouldn’t want starting games for us at this moment in time either.

What’s the point in spending to improve the midfield if we don’t further that with a quality dm since we’re about to lose Fab?

I’m hoping there’s some discreet work going on to bring in someone we were totally not expecting who is actually boss.

It’s the hope that kills you…

  11. I hear what you're saying Paul regarding Fabinho. None of these players jump out as an obvious choice as a like for like, but now is the right time to get rid of Fab. He's approaching 30, he's already terribly slow, the players we're linked with have great potential, we won't get a straight swap, but with Bajcetic and Lavia for example we could mould two great DM's.

  12. The obstacle is the way trust in Klopp like his football chaos is where he revels and I am sure he will put together a team next season that will compete fingers crossed 🤞 they will even challenge for cups and hit the top 4 and we will all enjoy the rollercoaster

  13. I’d really MUCH rather have Lavia and give him time and we’ll be bad for another season, than go all in on Phillips to try to be good this one. Not that I really want either of them as a replacement; I wanna keep Fabinho AND maybe get Lavia. Or just have it as it is. But fact is, Fab IS leaving anyways. That is now 100%. Jordan? Who knows. I wanna keep him, but tbh he deserves it if HE wants to leave. Losing both just suuucks… And then we DO need another one… or two…

  14. So if Liverpool has £35-40m for a DM + £55-60m for Fabinho & Henderson, that's £90-100m. Of the DM's available to us, my order of want is: Caicedo, Tchouameni, Luis Florentino, Sangare, Alvarez. I'd be happy with any of them. Who do you want?

    Under 20: Lavia 19yo (FUL) £35-40m, Gravenberch 21yo (BAY) £30m, Manu Kone 22yo (BOR) £35-40m,

20-24 Years Old: Caicedo 21yo (BRI) £90-100m, Tchouameni 23yo (RMD) £70-80m, Florentino Luis 23yo (BNF) £100m Release Clause, Cheick Doucoure 23yo (CRY) £35-40m,

    25 & Over: Ibrahim Sangare 25yo (PSV) £35m, Edson Alvarez 25yo (AJX) £35-42m,Amrabat 26yo (FIO) £30m, Kalvin Phillips 27yo (MNC) £35-40m, Joao Palhinha 28yo (FUL) £90m,

  15. I wouldn't mind Amrabat as a decent but unspectacular option I guess. Although I'd rather we went for one elite DM & left sided CB instead of an average DM, an average 8 & an average CB. I also think we need to abandon the Lavia deal now. We just don't have that luxury anymore. Koopmeiners looks like a decent all rounder possibly. Alternatively Doucoure looks like a good premier league experienced specialist DM but it still feels a bit like clutching at straws tbh.

  16. I feel like the departure of Henderson and Fabinho has really put a cat amongst the pigeons as far as Liverpool's summer transfer plans are concerned.

The thing that is getting me, is that suddenly we are now lacking a lot of experience in midfield, and bare in mind that we already wanted one more midfielder before Hendo and Fabinho decided that they wanted to leave.

So, you could say that we now need 3 midfielders, a CB and a forward.

However one of the midfielders could be Trent Alexander-Arnold if Liverpool were able to sign French international right back Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich but as I am sure you will realise a prestigious talent like BP is attracting a lot of interest from Barca, Madrid, Juve, City and United. I am not saying it's impossible but just that it's far from being a foregone conclusion.

Kalvin Phillips has been mentioned but unfortunately he wants to remain at City.

Amrabat is being talked about but at the moment Juventus or Manchester United are more likely.

Teemu Koopmeiners from Atalanta is a possibility for Fabinho's role of defensive midfield, Gravenberch at Bayern is another Dutch international well worth a look at.

Romeo Lavia the Belgian midfielder is another but the Reds interest in signing him appears to be cooling.
