His body mechanics and positioning are excellent. Those are his strengths and his composure in 1v1 is what sets him apart during penalty shootouts.

As a former GK coach, Sommer has almost obnoxiously good technique
When i was young this dude showed up as the new kid in our training one day. I wanted to test him and curled a beauty to the top corner, we were all thinking goal but that dude sailed through the air and punched it away. Mind you we were all like 10 years old, and none of us had ever seen something like that. He didnt stay long. He was outstanding very early.
