Porto striker Mehdi Taremi may be available at an affordable price this summer amid links to Manchester United. Earlier this week, Mehdi Taremi’s agent caused a stir by claiming to be at Old Trafford.
The prolific striker scored 31 goals for Porto last season in all competitions and could be a short-term option for the Red Devils. Portuguese outlet JN.pt reports that Manchester United is considering the Iranian international striker for the upcoming season.
Mehdi Taremi is under contract until June 2024, and while Porto wants to keep their top scorer, they really don’t want him to leave on a free transfer next summer. Portuguese outlet A Bola reports that “Mehdi Taremi doesn’t seem very tempted to sign the renewal,” putting his club in a vulnerable position.
It is alleged that AC Milan is also interested in Taremi, while Porto already has a list of ready replacements in case they have to sell the player. Gianluca di Marzio reports that Porto wants only €20 million, around £17 million, although as Manchester United knows, there is usually a higher price once the Red Devils get involved.

Amid AC Milan’s interest, former Italian international Giuseppe Bergomi is quoted via Sempre Milan: “Last year, Taremi had numbers in the first half of the Champions League similar to Messi’s in terms of opportunities created, assists, and goals. He does the job. If Milan chooses this player, he will become a starter. Among the names that have been mentioned, he is the one that convinces me the most.” Taremi scored five goals in seven Champions League games last season.
What are the plans of the mighty United? It is claimed that Manchester United has a tentative interest in Taremi, although he is not a top priority. First, the Red Devils need to finalize the signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana, with negotiations ongoing with Inter.
