Declan Rice’s Arsenal medical is rumoured to have been delayed until next week meaning his transfer from West Ham can’t be completed. Meanwhile Newcastle have agreed to sign top Hammers target Harvey Barnes.

  1. we are punishing you because you are massive rivals to us…. part of the famous big 7. i hope that's right I've only been watching football for a few weeks. I understand you are European champions???

  2. Of course we can start spending, payment schedules are not immediate. The club are probably after cheaper alternatives which I applaud !!!

  3. Not too fussed about missing out on Barnes. Would have been nice, but if Steidten is any good, he should be able to find comparable players for less money if we are really that worried about finances. Same with JWP and Palhina. Don't really get the mass hysteria on Twitter. I'll be worried in 2 weeks time if we have not signed anyone, but right now just stay calm and see what happens

  4. Honestly has any club actually gone from such a high at a cup final to such a crap pre season, no money, no idea , no creativity! Barnes and Scott are exactly who we should be going all out for ,keeping Moyes on 2 final year is madness, who do we buy ? Moyes for 1 season or wait for a new manager next season, limbo land as usual! We are so badly badly run ! That cup win should have been a springboard for great feeling but as usual the club plead poverty zzzzzzz

  5. I think we have to realise we are just not a big club. We even have a Championship player dictating to us what he wants before a move (Alex Scott). I remember people saying that now we are in Europe players will be falling over themselves to sign for us – we will never be an attractive club to join because of the type of football we play. Afraid it is Moyse again.

  6. Crazy risk to dither until Jan, schedule this season means we need a hot start from all. Can't hope to make a go of it in the late months. Arsenal definitely squeezing us for squeezing them.

  7. Its about disarming the competition's potential, keep WHU waiting restricts their chances of buying a top quality replacement. Barnes to WHU or the Geordies ? Champions League etc. Sullivan & Moyes are either going to spring a surprise this season or its going to be a nose-dive from the start towards relegation. Maybe Moyes has seen something in the younger players that has got his hopes up, they'll certainly run through a brick wall to get in and stay in the team. "You'll never win anything with kids". Alan Hanson

  8. How convenient is it to gloss over Westham's own transfer inadequacies(, maybe,) than to blame Arsenal for Declan Rice sale. At this level clubs don't necessarily carry cash around to buy players like they are grocery shopping. We don't even know if Barnes is a club target or fans target…plus we don't know what's holding the Rice medical/announcement/ registration….so let's not tie everything in these vaguely informed speculations.

  9. It's funny how other clubs never seem to have this cash flow problem, ( even though we have extra FFP rules due to being in Uefa competitions the last 2 years)..I think its just an excuse from our hopeless board…Good luck to Newcastle , great fans etc but it is galling that we can't attract decent owners also when we are every bit as deserving/ worthy as they are
