Saudi Arabia gear up for Poland meeting after shock Group C win over Argentina

Saudi Arabia trained on Friday as they aim to build on their memorable victory over Argentina when they face Poland in their second match of FIFA World Cup Group C at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar on Saturday.

Goals from Saleh Al-Shehiri and Salem Al-Dawsari sealed one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history, as Saudi Arabia defeated Argentina 2-1 at the Lusail Stadium on Tuesday to dampen Lionel Messi’s hopes of winning international football’s biggest prize for the first time.

Herve Renard’s side next face Poland, who drew 0-0 with Mexico in their first Group C match after their star forward, Robert Lewandowski, missed a penalty.

Saudi Arabia are bidding to reach the knockout stages of a World Cup for the first time since USA 1994, having failed at the group phase on four other occasions.
