With a complete lack of game time, it’s hard not to think of Garang Kuol’s loan at Hearts as a massive waste of time. Chris has his say.

  1. Before Garang Kuol came to us he was not a regular in the Mariners team and was sent to the World Cup as a wild card.. which made me think we were expecting too much from this loan deal.. ive heard he does not play in games that are played on artificial pitches due to high risk of injury (so why do they exist?) .. however you make excellent points.. Hearts knew what they were getting and his history, yet agreed to play a part in his development .. if they aren't able to do this by giving him game time, tailoring his training to address issues – such as the need to bulk up and develop core strength and stamina as well as experience in the physical nature of games.. then he should return.. equally, if the loan manager doesn't see the players needs are being met.. then he should be recalled.. the short form of this response is that yeah Chris, I agree 😄 🤣 😂

  2. I think it helped with his work permit and that there were some other Australian teammates already there so on paper it looked a good fit. Watching clips of the Aussie league he'll probably be way off the pace even for the Scottish League. Good pre season with us should set him up right. As for shola, ashworth couldn't replace a 'legend' straight away, I expect him to be moved on and someone with experience and contacts to take over. Shola was good in the Millburn suite pre/post match so maybe he should stick to that instead.

  3. Ur so right Chris. I'm a jock living in Thailand and a mad Toon fan. I won't watch my team on TV cos the standards shite. Get the lad back in the fold at St James's

  4. If he was going to Scotland he should have gone to Celtic where they have a manager who supports technical quick players and that style of play, wouldn't harm things that he's an Aussie as well

  5. I think that, as there are (for him) only a few games left, let him finish and to Bristol for half of next season before a 2nd half in championship

  6. just went back and read an article about Kuol's loan… (Kuol) “I had a small discussion with [Eddie Howe] and he said go wherever you’ll play the most. Development is key for young players.
"The gaffer here said he’ll play me. All he said I need to do is work hard. He told me he’ll bring me off the bench and then gradually I have to work my way into the starting XI.”

What a debacle. Find a proper Loan Manager, please. NUFC is yearsr behind in Youth Development. Hoping Ashworth brings in a proper Academy Director and Loan Director.

  7. Delusional rant that mate.
You're picked on merit and the top levels. The hearts gaffer isn't picking his son and his mates, is he? He is picking those who offer him the best chance of winning. Now that either means Garang isn't good enough or he isn't the correct fit for the team. Now Garang has two choices. Accept his fate and give up or keep his head down, improve his game, stay consistent and respect the managers decision untill he gets his chance.
Being loaned put by Newcastle doesn't give anyone automatic starting rights at a smaller club.

  8. I’ve been following it and yes totally agree, total waste of time. Give him to Joey at Bristol Rovers. Maybe he will play him in
Position at least. He’s only had a few sub appearances at hearts and one half against RANGERS in MIDFIELD. Not his position at all.

  9. Have been thinking the same thing for a long time. So much good management at the club these days, but this was me stinks. Agree fully, cancel the deal, reprimand Hearts football club and improve our loan management.

  10. Kuol has only seen 190 minutes of league action across seven appearances, including one start, having not been seen off the bench in the past five games, and without an appearance under interim head coach Steve Naismith. Ashworth, who led the push for the signing is planning for another season-long loan with a deal to be done early in the window. There is also interest in him from the Championship, and several Scottish clubs. Ashworth has decided to arrange another loan move for Kuol in 2023-24.

  11. The whole idea of sending players out on loan is that they develop by playing competitive football. We know they're not good enough for our first-team yet, that's why we send them somewhere shite. Take what you've got and know your place!

  12. Totally agree!
Pointless putting players out one loan for them to either sit on the bench or not even get in the squad, absolute waste of his timE, our time and a waste of talent
    Get him back ASAP,
    #HTL

  13. He'd have done way better with the u23 or bairns, terrible move by the club. The Scottish League is a joke at best 2 trick pony. Look what happened to Anderson in league 1. Buy that Belgian club asap and send them there.

  14. I was literally looking up garang during last week's podcast & i was stunned to see these stats myself. I would have thought it would have been better to have him at the traing ground for his first year away from home. He's a young kid with bags of talent. Keep him around the squad, let eddie run the rule over him & work out the things he needs to improve & then find a championship club or something that play with a similar pressing game to us. It seems the club have just sent him up to scotland just to get a few quid for him? It seems senseless & downright bizarre? Cheers chris.

  15. Why dont we just call him back from this disappointing loan and let him Train with our players and loan him out too another championship team in the summer. This kid is talent and he's been wasted going to Scotland good video Chris HWTL 👍

  16. Aye look at Jude….different size I knaa but Birmingham to Dortmund and look at him, get the kid a loan move abroad as he's one for wor squad in a couple of years😎

  17. I live in Australia and take it from me he's a proper player in the making. Seeing him back here against Ecuador in a couple of friendlies he's bulked up already, and to be honest even getting used to playing in a vastly different colder climate will help his transition. The A league is essentially played across an Australian summer – check out footage of Central Coast mariners, his previous club, they basically play in a stadium with Palm trees around it.
It's got to be a good stepping stone for a championship loan next year, especially after a full pre season with the first team this summer.

  18. The new Hearts manager hasn't picked him to play once since he took over, and didn't even bring him on for 10 minutes when they were 6-0 up – if he didn't get picked in that scenario, he never will! If he is going out on loan again next season, it needs to be perfect – high level northern based championship club where there are guarrantees about playing time would be best

  19. Maybe he just isn’t good enough for Hearts.
He certainly looked poor in a few cameo roles he played for Australia in the WC. He made some great runs but his team mates choose other options. I personally thought that spoke volumes.
Maybe send him back on loan to Australia or maybe Belgium, Greece, Spain or Holland second division leagues where it’s a little more open and more time on the ball.

  20. If Scottish teams don’t play technical young players. Might be an opportunity to get in some Scottish youngsters they are over looking for our youth team

  21. They could left him in Australia to finish the season with his club who are and were flying high. Stayed in the environment that made you take notice of him.first place.
