Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams is back at the All England club for her 24th year at the prestigious grass-court tournament.

Her first appearance – as a 17-year-old – was a first-round loss to Magdalena Grzybowska, and her memory of her maiden Wimbledon? “Oh man, it rained for five days in a row.”

On Monday the evergreen 43-year-old will face fellow wild card Elina Svitolina on Centre Court, and she’s still hungry for success.

When asked whether she could still find the motivation to continue playing well into her forties, Williams teased that this was a definite possibility.

“It’s never been done before,” she said, “so if there was one to try it, it would be me.”

This year’s Wimbledon will be Williams’ 92nd major, but Monday will mark only her sixth match in six months after being sidelined with a hamstring injury.
