I can’t believe camping spots like I found in North Carolina are free. Spots like these out west go for over $20.00 or more/day. Most are improved with fire rings, picnic tables and leveled tent sites. They do not have water or electric. They are numbered and after talking to a law enforcement ranger the area is policed and dispersed camping is only allowed in select spots which keeps the traffic down. These spots are also spaced out so you’re not right on top of another group camping near you. I was really impressed with the dispersed camping options in North Carolina.

It's always nice to see the East coast get a little love from the fly fishing community!! I love Montana but an hour drive to NC is so much easier.
Man, that is gourmet! I usually lazily slap together a quick PB&J then race down to the river. New rig looks awesome. Thanks Drew for taking us along! Any new hail dents?? Lol
Love it Drew!
Are you in Cherokee national forest
I know most fisherman are pretty particular about there sites but any general idea on where in nc you might be….thats my stumping ground but don't know that area from what I can tell….a big none ur biz is an acceptable answer
It is rugged and difficult. I'm fairly new but went to western NC and just getting in a position to cast and fish with the rocks and trees was a challenge. Gonna need some better boots for wading. I'll get the Orvis Ultra Lights you recommended.
Traveling and camping in remote areas is it fair to assume that you carry personal protection? You haven’t mentioned it as far as I know. But I always wonder about the crazies that one can encounter.
Glad you are enjoying the southern appalachians. I’m over in Tn but water looks the same. I fish in the national park a lot so the trout
Are smaller.
And a hail storm! Awesome stuff!!!
Been in many downpours and storms, it's nice to hunker down and stay comfortable. Your setup looks great, very relaxing. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Been meaning to ask- do you have any issues getting (dirt road)dust coming through the tailgate/canopy?
I get it pretty bad. Have tried various ways of sealing, etc., but still get fine layer all over my stuff – especially if on dirt roads all day.
Need to get you a little battery powered saw for cutting up your wood. Love the videos. Stay safe.
Ive camped in that spot several times. One of my favs. Good fishing all up and down that stream. Thanks for bringing us along.
Living the dream. USA USA! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Rain on the roof is the best sound machine.
I fly fish daily in jax Fl but love bringing my 6wt up north..I’ve been camping in nc for years and have a very hard time finding free sites. Any hints on where to find something similar?
