Pau Torres is expected to travel to the Midlands next week to complete an initial £33m move to Aston Villa.

The club agreed a deal with Villarreal over the weekend that also includes a number of potential bonus payments on top.

Torres is preparing to travel to the UK for a medical and reunite with his former manager Unai Emery, with whom he won the Europa League in 2021.

The Spain international has been coveted by a number of Premier League teams over the last few years and his signature is seen as somewhat of a coup for the club.

He is understood to have had a £60m (€70m) release clause in his contract but Villa were able to negotiate more favourable terms, and will pay the fee over the period of his contract.

  1. Prem taking other leagues best players then inturn moan and B*TCH around when Saudi and Qatar take their players..

They are even taking players close to retirement, what will you do if they start snatching Prem youngsters … Hypocrite Oil League ! 😂

  2. What a statement signing this would be for Villa a great addition to really bolster their defence in ready for Europe

  3. £33m just avoids breaking the club record transfer of £38million.
+Torres, +Teilemans and keeping Emi and Watkins is a real good window already, a few more additions and we'll have the depth to challenge on multiple fronts.

Since Emery joined Villa has been the 2nd best team by points behind just City and that was with effectively no Emery transfers in the Winter. With time and more UCL-tier talent like Torres we really should be on for trophies. Considering 5th should offer a UCL spot next season that + a Conference League trophy would be just perfect.

  4. I had to stop supporting Chelsea last season and bought an Arsenal shirt around November. I may consider moving back to Chelsea towards the end of next season though, looks very nice!!

  5. I used to think villa had great history till i found out they 90% of their trophies between 1890 and 1910 😂😂😂😂
