  1. Smart Move by Dortmund. Can is basically the same Type of Player and if he signs a new contract, they dont really need Alvarez especially, not for 40 Million. Dortmund needs the Money for way more Important Transfers. They need a Bellingham replacement, a Dahoud replacement and new Right Defender and they also want to sign a new offensive Midfielder.

so for everyone.. They dont want to buy Alvarez, cuz Can is going to sign a new contract.

  2. Chelsea only offered 50 because it was the last day of the window so Ajax wouldn’t have time to get a replacement. He’s also on a shorter contract now. My guess is Dortmund thought the price was going to be lower but Ajax are asking for more and the gaps to wide to get a deal done quickly. So rather than waste time trying to negotiate a lesser fee that may not be want they want they figured it’s just not worth the trouble

  3. If the player is good enough and proves it on a consistent basis then he'll get the transfer as clubs will think he is worth the money.

It all comes down to the player proving he is worth the money.

Ajax have every right to ask for that amount of money.
After decades of being the feeder club for the big clubs in Europe they are now in a position where they can make great money from transfers.

They should only lower the value if they want to get rid of the player and no longer have any use for him.

  4. Dortmund usually go for really young players with under 21 years old or veteran players that have proven to play at the highest levels in Europe. Edson Alvarez is going to be 26 years old and has not played in a top 5 league in Europe yet. Edson Alvarez is not a teenage phenom who came from the Ajax academy for example.

It’s not surprising that Edson Alvarez is not going to Dortmund.

  5. It’s easy, Premier League Clubs are throwing around Oil money and Bundesliga Clubs don’t allow investors. 50 million is a lot for BVB, and if Ajax don’t want to go lower it’s fair to call the deal off.

  6. Honestly a jump to West Ham wouldn't be the worst. West Ham worked out well for Declan Rice. Going straight from an Ajax to a club like Dortmund or Chelsea often does not work.

  7. As for Alvarez, Ajax fans say he's great defensively and isn't bad on the ball but he's limited in terms of passing range and ball carrying ability.

  8. Truthfully I think it’s better he stays at Ajax🤷🏽‍♂️ they’re pretty much the same team just different league. Both with the reputation of developing young players and both usually in the mix for the league title. Sure bundesliga is more challenging but it’s not like players who’ve come from Ajax aren’t ready or of high quality. He’s likely to have more competition at the position and could lead to less game time at dortmund. Ajax is the choice for me.

  9. What a moronic topic. Of course Edson's career isn't ruined by not moving to Dortmund. There are plenty of other clubs that have the money and the inclination to buy him.

Also price is very fair given how important he is, his contract length and the fact that players like mudryk (70million euros) núñez (80 million euros), Sancho (85m) Kalvin Philipps (49m) etc. Got sold for similarly insane prices

  10. Ruining his club career is a big of a stretch. He’s playing for one of the best Dutch teams in Ajax and still has room for improvement. Maybe if he was at a mid-table team but Ajax were in a Champions League semifinal a couple years ago. 26 isn’t late for a transfer but 30-40 mil is good value for him

  11. Bvb is a joke, they put this outrageous price on their players and they can't pay what other teams want for theirs. If I was Ajax I would sell the player for 100million Euros or Pounds, screw them

  12. I definitely believe that it was because of the US vs Mexico game. I’m sure Dortmund saw how Alvarez was unable to stop Gio. Also, the fact that Dortmund wants to sell Gio for 20 million; it makes no sense to buy Alvarez, 30 million, while Gio is worth 20 million.

  13. Borussia Dortmund are the biggest hypocrites in the transfer market. They don't think twice before charging exorbitant sums for their players, but want real bargains when they're in the market for a player.
