  1. If we are going to stick to the 4-3-3 and we all know we are, Reyna needs to be deployed as the attack minded 8 like the way Arsenal uses Odegaard

  2. With your point on Pulisic there has been many times when he hasn't played well and others have shined and he would pout and look upset but yesterday kept it together worked and seemed good with the fact that Gio and others were shining offensively

  3. Nice! Like many who were watching last cycle- I'm on board with you about T. R. U. S. T. I. N. G. these guys, loosening the restraints on this team.
In a single must win game vs a a superior opponent, sometimes there is a place for micromanaging… to an extent. The problem is- done over a long time, not only does this stifle growth, it atrophies that creative, decision making muscle. Cross sport to a very successful coach Phil Jackson. During the regular season, he was notorious over his career for NOT calling time outs when things went to sh*t in the game. When questioned he responded that it was important for the players to be able to problem solve- depend on each other to figure things out on their own in real time during competitive play. No amount of film or practice can substitute for this.

  4. Hey Derek and/or Comment section. Do any of you know of someone from the media/streamer/Personality that is pushing the narrative that BJ is not doing anything different from Gregg? Claiming BJ is using the exact same lineups, tactics, and formation Gregg used. Because I have seen so many comments, Tweets on several platforms pushing that narrative. It feels like a bot campaign because no way there are that many clueless(about soccer) soccer fans.

  5. Reyna had a different vibe about him last night. He looked completely comfortable and 100% mentally in the game. I think there was a level of trust given to him in his natural position(10) that allowed him to feel like part of the team. His decision-making has really improved over the last 4 games. He also is looking for dribble lanes while looking for passing lanes and he has had some beautiful touches on his passes. He could have easily had 7 assists over the last 4 games if people had better finishes.

  6. Derek your so right about the midfield. depending on who we are playing, I think we can have musah play the 6 and leave adams on the bench to keep Reyna in the midfield. And then if we need more back line protecting put adams in instead of musah.

  7. I'm hoping we continue to see Reyna in the midfield I'm ok with having adams or weston on the bench for it to happen and to have one of them come in the 60th minute to seal the game it's a great position to be in

  8. I think probably unpopular they need to play 4-2-3-1 with Reyna at cam and adams and Musa as the other 2 midfielders and sit mckenney with adams and missy gio wouldn’t have to do as much defensively

  9. MLS is poor in defense by design. They didn't want a bunch of 0-0 or 1-0 games while trying to grow the popularity of the game here. Well, it's high time to grow up and start playing it.

  10. Adams will nvr lose his spot under 3g. Doesn’t matter if we’re playing against a 8-1-1😂, super low block, Adams will stay, can’t have creativity under 3g🙄🙄🙄

  11. Interesting that biggest affected person from these last two games is someone who we thought was irreplaceable, Adams!

  12. Great video Derek. So agree with almost all your points.
What are the chances that GGG will have learned his lesson(s) and come in and do things differently?

  13. I still think Eustaquio should have been carded. He pushed Gio down and that’s when Gio got hurt, and the play was done when it happened.

EDIT: Also…Joe Scally was THAT BITCH. He was magnificent against Davies.

  14. Adams might be the odd man out when we need more offense, but I'm not so sure that McKennie won't be the one on the bench when the USA is at full strength. The attack was dynamic without him before Reyna got hurt, and if Dest had been on the pitch it would have been even better. If we can consistently get goals without Weston McKennie, the defense provided by Adams and Musah makes this team scary good.

  15. Assuming everyone is available… I think Gio, Adams, Musah are the starters in most cases, and McKennie is first off the bench. But different games call for different things too. Weston for the USA is a different beast than he's been for club recently.

  16. I'd LOVE to think that GGG has been bringing Gio along SLOWLY. With the LONG TERM plan of bringing him on as a starter. I PRAY that's the case. GGG has a LOT to prove over the next year or two.

  17. Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more, you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

  18. Really good solo show Derek. Like the banter with Brett but this show was all soccer and nice for a change. When are you going on vacation? Would be good to try a Brett solo show.

  19. This game highlights a concern I have about Berhalter returning. We played differently than normal against Canada and only ended up with 36% possession for the game. Can Gregg watch the way we played and realize that despite the possession numbers, we were superior and pretty much in control from start to finish?

  20. Haaland calls Reyna “the American Dream.” I think Balogun will need a new nickname for all the assists.
GGG really has 1 litmus test to see if he has learned. Play Gio in the #10. That’s it.

  21. USMNT started reporting to camp June 4 for game on June 15. Canada Coach said he had 4 total days. USA doesn't get 4 days vs 10 in qualifiers.
