  1. I’m pretty sure that’s why Messi took this path though. He doesn’t want to compete 24/7 with high pressure anymore. He’s gonna chill out and enjoy playing football for the last couple years of his career. That’s my guess at least

  2. YUUUUUUP, literally there are no consequences to losing in US pro sports. Actually, when you lose, you get better draft picks. How embarassing

  3. Its part of Sports culture in America (relegation)

People pay billions for clubs under the premise they’ll never get relegated so it won’t be something thats implemented any time soon

  4. Yes it's true. Thats why I really don't watch the games. But this is coming from someone who sat out the last 3 years of his prime in Spain.

  5. Been a messi fan for a long time but him coming to MLS is disappointing especially when you got players like Modric still competing at the top

  6. Sort of true…When you lose, endorsements are worth less, less tickets are sold, less merchandise is sold. This means you have less to pay good players. And likewise you make more by making playoffs and going deeper in all revenue channels. I’d rather have relegation. But that doesn’t mean the system is pointless

  7. Of course he chose the easy route. He's going to Miami, a city with a large spanish-speaking community where he already owns a house. He'll only be a couple of hours away from his native Argentina.

Everything about this screams comfort. And that's fine.

  8. No Lies Detected!! I think MLS should swing for the fences with the next major international signing…get Mourinho or Conte to come over and manage a side on these shores!! The press conferences would be must see TV!!

  9. With Promotion-Relegation, MOST teams in Europe are resigned to cheering not to lose… "Hip hip hurray, we didn't get Relegated" Not exactly "Competitive"

  10. This is the entire point. MLS is a structurally and permanently flawed exhibition league. It is not competitive athletics. It is more like the Harlem Globetrotters than European or South American leagues. Owners were lured with the promise of no relegation risk and they will not give it up.

  11. Nobody cares about soccer here in the US and we will never care. He will soon learn that and there is no amount of media that will change that.

  12. Report: as part of Messi signing for MLS team Inter Miami, the league will change its name to LMS: Lionel Messi Soccer! 😮

My other joke was Messi League Soccer but to say ‘Messi League’ would almost be saying the league is full of Messi level talent.

  13. Messi are first and foremost a FAMILY man, and football-biz comes second, ! ESPN why don't you get rid off those two clickbaiters , listening to a cheesburger talk football, are totally football -sacreligious to me, and always will !! EVERYTHING american are bs in general anyway, and some smell of WOKE will disapear aswell if you loose that bs'er !

  14. The entire season is a preseason to get ready for the playoffs . It’s a big reason why MLS is still considered a retirement league. There isn’t much pressure on teams to perform throughout the season. I believe it was LAFC’s second season where they played GREAT all season. But one bad game in the playoffs and they had nothing to show for it.
