Yasser Al Misehal, Saudi Arabia Football Federation President, has ambitions for his country to break into the top 20 of the FIFA World rankings.
Speak exclusively to SNTV, Al Misehal hailed the success of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and said that he hoped those who had initially been against the tournament being held in there had been won over.
Saudi Arabia provided the shock of the tournament, beating eventual winners Argentina 2-1 in their opening game – a result that certainly captured the imagination of football fans worldwide.
With that in mind, there is every reason for optimism around the Saudi Arabia game with Al Misehal keen for the result to be a springboard to greater endeavour.
He also said that he was proud of the strides made in women’s football in his country, with the first regional league forming last year.
