I said Javi made 3 changes. Apologies. He made 2. Which makes the comments stranger about having used all his opportunities. Apologies for misspeaking
We are effing cr@p
Bang on on the changes Ger, why oh why…..the game turned as soon as Aaronson came on….Mezza kept us in it, Roca should of done better with his header, cant believe Bamfords miss but i think it would of been offside..wasnt expecting any pts before KO. will take 1pt but i feel we needed all 3..i fear the worse. Has Gnonto been sold ??????? why is Javi not playing him??????..great vid Ger…..MOT
The other thing that I notice with Leeds is how many times they bypass the Midfield and give possession and get caught out of shape when they don't win the second ball. That may be the reason roca/Mckinney look disinterested. I would also
Heyup Ger, totally agree with everything you say. Why Javi didn't bring on Gnonto or Rutter instead of Aaronson is beyond me. That result was deffo Javi's doing.
Good point on Weston's friends needing to back off but the same is to be said for Leeds fans taking to social media to vent directly at 'our' players, I appreciate the frustration of fellow fans however the damage has been caused by Victor Orta – as he is responsible for our recruitment of both players and managers so the blame lies there and not with individual players.
Victor has continuously brought players for the future and often bought players who don't fit the profile of the team's pressing style or tactics – ie no like-for-like cover for Adams or Bamford. Its rubbish and doesn't help us, it's pointless to buy amazing young wingers with prospects or expensive players who don't fit the profile the team needs. For example, rather than buying Rutter (for the future) and McKennie who is a box-to-box midfielder we'd have been better off buying Che Adams who would be a like-for-like cover for Paddy, and someone like Sander Berge who would cover the defensive duties of Adams and the creative play from Roca.
For the reasons given above, I feel no one deserves more blame than Victor. The chairman doesn't run the club, he pays Victor to run the football side and Angus to run the business side, the chairman is purely a social media-friendly donor. Orta has played too manager football manager games and obviously likes selling players on for more than he buys them, but the senior team is suffering from this approach as players are needed for now not later.
Leeds fitness has dropped since Bielsas time. The goal we conceded last night came from a defensive throw deep in their half, three touches maybe four it was in the back of our net, we pressed the throw in and did our impression of a chocolate fireguard the result is always the same, there’s something rotten in the state of Denmark someone once said and the same can be said of Leeds United.
Like how Chelsea brought ‘home’ Frank, then who could we bring ‘home’?
I’m saying there’s nobody other than O’Leary and tbh I’d prefer O’Leary just for this last 6 games…
The lift would be amazing (with Eddie) just for one last hurrah
They need to sack Javi, Now, he is clueless he dosent know what to do, he can't motivate the players, & if Gnonto is injured, why is he on the bench? The club need to come clean & tell the fans what's going on. It's a dam disgrace, from the top down, sack the lot of em. 😬 Rant over.
What? Where does this question of "Is the lack of player fitness a Jesse Marsch issue?" come from???? He's been gone for 3 months and until he left we ALWAYS finished games very strongly. we were in every game and competitive right to the end. You can claim that we didn't gain enough points but question whether the player lack fitness due to Jesse in barmy…
I’m struggling to see where Leeds can get points, as you say, Ger. We’ve missed too many opportunities for points. Those wins against Liverpool and Chelsea did us no favours. They kept Marsch in his job and made it look as though we could rise to an occasion, when we can’t. They were flukes. Nothing more.
I think we’ll do well to pick up two more points this season. Our only hope is that other teams do worse. If we get out of this it’ll be tantamount to a miracle. And I don’t believe in miracles.
Afternoon Ger great comments your understanding of the way you think LEEDS should be playing is quite refreshing
We started the first half on the front foot, we needed to score more than one goal when we were on the front foot
We need to hear from Javi, why he’s not playing Gnonto. What has gone on
Thanks Ger for a great stream. LEEDS FOREVER MOT
Thanks Ger for explaining the situation with the subs.

Hello Ger unbelievable miss by Patrick Bamford HELL'S BELL'S miss of the century 😮🧐Ger could be matter of staying Up and going down. Sini scored a beauty. We got a point should of been 3 . When the fox's scored if COOPS managed to get his tackle right the 🦊 Fox's wouldn't of scored. I am baffled like you and the rest of Leeds supporters why Willy isn't getting a match or only 10 minutes it's bloody scandalous if Willy came on last night 🌃 he would of changed the game opponents have to Double Up on Willy. The Lad play's for the shirt and wants to Win at All costs. First half was good. Why didn't he play Adam Forshaw come on in place of Roca just to get the midfield a steady hand ✋ and calmness. Leeds have to bloody WIN against Bournemouth .The question is WHY isn't WILLY playing it's more than an injury. 442 is Old school I like 442 not many team's play old school 🙏. Excellent match analysis GER you need to get a JOB in the Academy set up at Thorpe Arch 🤩. Typical REG VARDY scoring for the first time in YONKS FFS 🥸. But the biggest LET DOWN missed a sitter well miss of the Bloody Century 😔. I thought if your on the bench your FIT to play. So Willy not been used or if he isn't fit like you say GER we need to Know what's happening. Bournemouth we have to attack. Top Man Ger 👏 respect. Just a quick one Ger KALVIN PHILIPS is supposed to be open to going to Liverpool could be what he needs he will play because they need to get in New midfielder's. I wish he was still with us. Keep fighting all Leeds aren't we 🦚🇮🇨👊✊🤍💛💙
I'm no friend of Mckennie and I don't have twitter but Leeds are using Mckennie wrong. He's not a defensive midfielder. Not playing Gnonto is stupid but generally, Leeds are poor at defending.
I wish our fans would leave our players alone on line.
I remember when our Goalkeeper Silvestri and his family were receiving death threats on line.
These so called fans are not doing our club any favours by upsetting our players.
It is rumoured that if Gnonto plays too many games we will have to play Zurich more money and that's why he's been omitted.
Excellent review of the game and spot on 👍👍👍
Fair enough about Wes' friends not getting involved in Twitter spats with fans — Twitter is mostly a cesspool anyway — but you know what? I get it. Soccer fans in England, many of who are frankly clueless about the game and what is really haopening (Ger, you are an exeption, mostly) start spouting off about this player is rubbish, or that players is useless, and so on. Everyone has a right to their opinions, but some opinions are ridiculously stupid. I think, as you probably discovered, that the knee jerk sacking of managers because idiot fans are screaming for a scalp is one of the worst things in football, and in English football particularly. And it's not just Jesse Marsch — Sean Dyche should have never been fired from Burnley, and if Steve Cooper gets fired no matter what happens to Forest that would ALSO be stupid. I haven't followed Palace, but just because you go on a bad run, firing the manager? If THAT was the reason, and only reason, that was equally stupid. On the other hand, while I haven't read this Twitter crap, Wes McKinney IS being used incorrectly. He's not a second 6 or an 8. HIs upside is as a regista; he should be in that role. The lofted pass he made in the WC to Dest to set up Pulisic for the goal against Iran was a classic regista ball. But he can't be in that role without an Adams, so it's hard to blame Garcia on that one.
Great review Ger. Nowt more to say.
Twitter and Twatters go always god together.
The team is not cohesive! Some individuals are giving their all, but as a team they are broken. Notts Forest result against Brighton tonight, shows how it is done. If Everton win their game in hand we are back in the drop zone.
Ger do you think Willy's not being played because Leeds will have to pay his old team money for the number of starts he would make for Leeds or he's been doing things he shouldn't ?
Don't disagree with you that McKennie should steer clear. But how is it that McKennnies friends should keep their mouths shut and not the Leeds fans? The Leeds fans have are always ALL over him, being really shitty. Not cool! Do they give the same kind of crap to Bamford who can't hit the broad side of a barn? Or any of the other English players? No, just the Americans. Maybe they all need to just chill and enjoy their team doing well.
Ger- When fans and even reputable podcasts that are loosely associated with the club (The Square Ball namely Michael Normanson) constantly talk about how a 185 pound player who runs 5-6 miles a game is fat and calls him racist, nationalistic and ridiculous names, of course his friends or acquaintances are going to defend him. The Leeds fans are 100% out of line and should not be defended in any way. Ribbing players and complaining about their play is one thing. Vicious and cowardly attacks on a player’s character are another. You know how bad this got. Normanson is a grown man and should be embarrassed for acting like a child. He has kids for god sakes.
Really appreciate this quality tactical analysis. Very difficult to find this anywhere else. Thank you
We’re not relegated yet! The run has 2 really winnable games, Bournemouth and West Ham, possible point against Spurs? That’ll see Leeds stay up, need some luck with the teams around us having bad results!
Always remember folks; there's a 1000 things wrong at Leeds United Football Club. You're not one of them! MOT X
It's at the Point where people on Twitter are directing their comments about McKennie to this "29" guy hoping he responds to start the whole snowball effect. Just leave it alone
Listening to the conversations on the Pods and Youtube channels, it seems like everyone is in agreement with Gracia making the wrong decisions again and again. Why is he doing this? Beggars belief that we will go down because he refused to use our best player and our record signing. Forest winning today pretty much dooms us as we have no idea
Great tactical analysis once again ..
A bit of a mess! 5 little words says it all Ger!
I'd like to hear your Championship team based on what players we could have.
Gracia has taken us down!
The correct starting 11 would have played better though Ger. I'm resending my managerial CV to Leeds 😂
Is the hat going to make a come back ?
I read Javis response to his changes on leeds live and I can understand his thinking, his selection of wingers is primarily based on knowing both his full backs are crap and need Max protection ,he obviously feels Willy is the least defensive of his choices,I would see risk v reward differently but I understand his dilemma to an extent but I feel Forshaw sweeping in front of back four or three CBS with wing backs are a better way of covering their weaknesses and offer the opportunity to free Gnonto.
I feel for Weston, and Rutter, thy came to the club, Jesse was sacked a week later, and now they have mister soft as manager. Weston clearly works in a 3 midfield, as for the game, shocking second half, didn't go for the kill, after bamford miss he has to give Rutter a try.
Hi Ger
Congrats on being the best Leeds channel out there. Some others get overly emotional and often quite knee-jerk so I appreciate your calmness and objectivity.
Sorry I've just re-read this and it's going to be long!
I totally agree with your reasoning that the change of shape with Aaronson coming on was the turning point. They started to dominate on about 55 minutes. Aaronson came on at 68 so we'd already been under the pump for 10-15 minutes at that point. I think he should have done 2 things differently.
Firstly, brought on Gnonto at around 60 mins. We were already losing grip, Rodrigo was done (and on a yellow) as you said. Willy could have come on and done the same job as Rodri. Aaronson actually did better than he has lately but it was the wrong change
Secondly, depending on how that panned out, he should have replaced either Roca or McKennie or both on say 70mins. They did ok but were tiring and were getting overwhelmed. He could have brought on one or two of Forshaw, Greenwood or even Struijk or Kristensen in midfield to give us fresh legs. Forshaw in particular could have given us more control.
The key point which you touch on that I agree with is that our "leaky defence" is not as simple as the defence or defenders being rubbish. Maybe that is a small issue but the root cause for me is that it starts further up the pitch. The midfield tire and get overrun, but even more so, we fail to defend from the front. As you say, the opposition can start attacks further up the pitch and suddenly we are under more pressure. It wouldn't have been popular, but he could even have stuck Rutter on for Rodri and maybe brought Gnonto on for Harrison later
I do think Gnonto should start or at least be given 45 or even 30 minutes minimum. If we were winning or even competing for 90 minutes it wouldn't be as big of an issue. But we aren't. There are various theories as to why he's not being picked. I don't think he's injured. I don't think there is a clause whereby we have to pay Zurich more money if he plays more games (and even then it's not a good reason).
The only thing I can imagine is that it's an attitude thing. Gnonto has been quite petulant at times, getting silly yellows, and has also seemed to sulk a bit when getting subbed. That type of thing may be prevalent in training and may have rubbed Gracia up the wrong way.
Even if that's true, I still think it's a bonehead call. He must know that the fans are clamouring for Willy to be picked and by not doing so, Gracia is ostricising a large section of the fan base. If he started Willy and we still went down, I think most fans would forgive that to some extent. If we stay up with using Willy, a lot of fans will still be disgruntled, and should we go down it will be toxic. Gracia will have very little chance of keeping the job if he keeps freezing out Gnonto (in fact I think he's blown that chance already). If we do stay up and he gets the job, the fans will not support him
Finally, despite Gracia's limitations with Gnonto and game management in general, I think that the seeds of this trouble were sown when we appointed Marsch and probably before that. Orta's recruitment has been largely awful. Some good players (Wober, Mes, Sini, Adams), some possibly lucky (Rafa, Gnonto), some overpriced (James. McKennie), some not good enough (Llorente, Firpo probably) and some were the wrong player at the wrong time (Rutter being the obvious one).
Also, Orta backed Marsch with many "Red Bull" players like Rasmus, Aaronson who haven't worked out. In hindsight, Kristensen was a foolish purchase. At the time, we needed a left back, and had Drameh who could have done as good a job. We also needed a decent creative midfielder (some version of De Bruyne, Modric or that profile) and we never got one. And of course a proper goalscorer in Januday. Did you notice that Castellanos bagged 4 the other night?
I think we'd be in a much better position now if they'd sacked Marsch just before the world cup. Sadly we won two in a row which saved him. Had we done so, we'd have got a better manager who would have had much longer to work with the team.
At this point, we look like the only team down there who is not fighting 150% for 90 minutes. I watched Forest-Brighton last night. Forest were not in it for 45 mins but came out with a really strong second half and won. I can't remember us doing that since November. On the contrary, we've coughed up winning positions in so many games (Southampton, Spurs, Man U, Palace, Leicester and probably others).
The slight silver lining is that we only have to match the results of 3 of the bottom 4 (assuming Everton lose to Newcastle) to stay up. Sadly I can't see that happening. We must beat Bournemouth and then win one more or draw two at least and that's not looking likely
Whatever happens to Leeds there are players who need to leave , ayling bamford Koch aaronson for a start if we stay up or go down
Interestingly McKennie had his first good game for Leeds.
Adams is our best player.
Thanks mate..I miss Jesse..
Bamford..not his fault I know yet…geezuz H BEEP..to use blasphemy where blasphemy is due. With this coach confidence is down. I hope they can find the belief. Amen!
