Despite the emotional and psychological difficulties of their beloved fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone passing away last week, Tottenham found the spirit and the focus to bounce back from last week’s surprise 0-0 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt by winning away to in-form Brighton. A visibly emotional Spurs manager Antonio Conte dedicated the result to Ventrone, a man who Conte said “was in the heart of every single Tottenham person”.
Sometimes these moments can turn a campaign on its head, and that’s precisely what Tottenham will be praying for here after mixed results have left their three remaining UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage games as crucial ones – which is the last thing Conte needed after implying to the media that his squad lacked the depth to be successful in multiple competitions this season.

Perhaps most alarmingly for Tottenham, that includes five wins from five starts as travelling outsiders – including a 3-2 triumph at Camp Nou – which serves as another reminder that they cannot be taken lightly.
Players to watch: Tottenham midfielder Ivan Perišić has scored in two separate victories against Frankfurt for two clubs, and would be delighted to return to the scoresheet after three assists in all competitions during September. His Croatian compatriot, Frankfurt’s Kristijan Jakić, scored a goal the last time he played a full 90 minutes away from home (at Stuttgart).
Hot stat: Only one of the six Group D games in the 2022/23 UCL have seen both teams score.

Tend to agree with the 1.0. for Spurs tonight. It won't be pretty to watch.
I fancy a 2-0. Hope so anyway…get the first goal, Conte defensive machine activates, counter attack 2nd goal, see it out. Can't afford to not be clinical and can't afford to make any mistakes tonight, we need this win.
Totally agree with us needing to be nastier but also more canny and aggressive ala Pochettino's setup but it's easy to look at that with Rose tinted spectacles. Hopefully we can qualify for the next phase but I don't see a lot of progress ahead, the usual hopeful of top four and not expecting any trophies, not that I wouldn't accept one if it happened 🤣 COYS.
I've just received a dressing down on another channel for my views on Kane so I'll keep this brief. Spurs 2-1 and the Stat Padder to score and be lauded tomorrow. Probably followed by an invitation to the Kings Coronation.

And then we get the strange performance tonight. 3:1 up against the run of play after 35 mins with average Frankfurt having "63%" of the possession. And then we were lucky to get the win against 10 men. It's these kind of games which confuse fans. We get the win but easily could have lost the game. I thought in the fist 10 mins Tottenham were shockingly bad.
