  1. You guys will like Sargent. He was known as a lethal goal scorer in his younger years but Bremen became a problem bc they are one of the worst teams I have seen in a long time at creating chances for their attackers. Very similar to recent Schalke. It was hard for the ball to even get to Sargent’s feet most games. Sargent would have to drop deep and help create from the midfield and provide strong hold up play for long balls. He has been doing that since Bremen forgot how to play football and has added quite a bit to his game apart from finishing. I’m positive with more chances (aka actually receiving the ball in an attacking position more often) he will have many more goals throughout his time at Norwich.

  2. My main points on Sargent as a USMNT fan would be that you have to take his goal scoring record with a grain of salt. Werder we’re a dreadful offense last year and even Haaland wouldn’t have changed that. Sargent is also very productive off of the ball in providing for teammates and doing work defensively.

  3. Josh was Bremens top goalscorer while playing out of position and not getting any service. I could see him getting significant playing time for Norwich, mostly off the bench. His best attributes are his hold up play and everything he does off the ball (movement and pressing).

  4. The more I look into him the more it excites me. Only scored 5 goals last season sure but thats only half a story. Was in a very negative bremen team that played very direct and without a lot of the ball, hence why his defensive and pressing stats are so high. Youd imagine farke will be able to bring the best out of this guy. If we get a very decent CDM and maybe a Brandon Williams type loan for LB im pretty happy with the window.

  5. Norwich will get relegated because they won’t score enough goals. Pukki is a great championship striker and is lethal at the through ball on the ground. But he is not tall enough and therefore has no aerial presence. It’s a waste of time putting in high crosses so Norwich have to play corners etc low, these are easily cut out by the first defender.

  6. He's not been prolific last season but that's in a struggling relegated team. Pukki wasn't prolific last time we went down either but 6 or 7 goals from a second striker if Pukki goes off the boil/gets injured will make all the difference. And if we can improve him we have gained an asset we can sell on as is our model. He can also open our club to more eyes in the US and hopefully drum up some more interest which will come in handy forming more of a fanbase when we succeed at becoming a Premier league staple.

  7. American here. Sargent's greatest strength is his hold up play. He had to do a whole lot of it at Werder Bremen as they do not create many chances.

  8. Sargent is great, very underrated..his movement thru the seams and his runs behind the back line will cause problems for opposing clubs. Holds up the ball quite well and his dribbling is much improved. Great pickup…hard worker offensively and defensively! Young talent with a huge upside, I believe he will work quite nicely with Billy Gilmour. American Chelsea supporter here, and we shall see Norwich very much contend quite well this season!

  9. As a USMNT supporter, this is an interesting transfer. Sargent is a skilled player and an absolute workhorse but their have been questions about his lack of goal scoring, both at Bremen and for the national team.

  10. Sargent has been playing on the wing and even in the midfield for Bremen. He has those defensive and playmaking capabilities, so even if he doesn’t start as CF/striker, he can fill in holes in many different positions

  11. A lot of USMNT fans look at Sargents numbers and automatically say that he is bad and that he does not belong with the national team. These people are wrong. I know that most of the Bremen fan base rate Josh very highly, which is proper because he is a great talent. Great ability to use his body and good ball skills make him exceptional at holding up the ball and combining with the players around him. He is a decent finisher as well. The only reason he struggled to put up numbers in the bundesliga is because of the lack of service and support around him. Bremen was never a team that created many chances or even moved the ball very far up the field at all. However playing for a team like that did result in some good things for Sargent. One of his strongest points I’d say is his defensive ability. He is absolutely brilliant at pressing the oppositions back line and is always the hardest working player on the field. This kid has got an engine on him along with the fight of a warrior. I think that with a little help around him, he could become a top striker. He is definitely someone that makes it easy to root for him to do well. Hopefully this move can help him to take his game to the next level because I truly believe he has it in him. Norwich fans should be excited about this signing as he definitely has the potential to tear it up in the premier league.

  12. has potenial to be good but bremen he just did not have anything around him but i can promise you this he will give 100 percent attacking and getting back

  13. Joah is a guy that received NO service at werder bremen. He had to track back and defend while also tryna attack. Great hold up play, passing, and will find the net when he has proper service

  14. Repeating a lot of things that have already been said but two things to note about his time at Bremen:

    1. Most often played on the wing.
If you look at his heat maps and positioning from 2020/21 you’ll notice he’s most often off the right which leads to point 2

    2. He was asked to do A LOT of defending at Bremen.
Perhaps this is a reason why Norwich have valued him at such a fee. Sargent often man marks the fullback overlapping (last week’s against Fortuna he was very deep very often) and thus finds himself pinned back in a possession lacking side. Relied on far more as a counterattack starter from the edge of his own penalty area than as the finisher, thus the less than stellar return.

  15. Josh couldn't get reliable service at Bremen. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by Josh's game. He can score with both feet and his head.

  16. nobody looks good at Bremen. It was painful for me to watch Josh play at Bremen. That team was a mess. Josh looks much better with the national team. Josh is a very hard working forward. He will run all day long pressing. He does need to improve his finishing, but he's young.

  17. If Norwich need a center back another American Miles Robinson would be a great pick up for them, young athletic player who carried USA's B team to win the gold cup, shouldn't cost too much

  18. Josh is a great player who needed this transfer. He's been in a bit of a slump this past year with Werder Bremen, but has so much potential. He hussles on both sides of the pitch (watch his head save off the line for the US national team against Honduras in the Nations League). He will always give you 110% on that pitch, good signing IMO!

  19. Sargent should probably switch positions to CB… Lol. The narrative on him always cracks me up. “Great at everything but scoring goals…” Well that’s the main thing a striker is supposed to do. Hopefully that narrative isn’t accurate and it only got started because the poor guy was basically forced to drop into the deep midfield to even get his feet on the ball. His service at Bremen was so bad. If that narrative is correct… we’ll. Most people seem to say it like it’s a good thing. “GREAT AT EVERYTHING… except scoring goals…” It’s not. Not for a striker…

  20. What a complete waste of £8m and a pointless signing for Norwich. Sargent is not premiership level and has only scored 11 goals in 3 years. The German league is a lot easier than the Premiership so don’t put him in your fantasy league. Can’t see him getting a single goal.
Norwich are a joke. They should have gone for Tammy Abraham. They’ve got the money from Buendia and the money for going up.he would have certainly taken a look because it would be 90 minutes every week. His current salary is £57,000 a week.

  21. the key to getting the most with josh is to play to his strength. this was something bremen hasn't been doing so he didn't really perform to his full potential. add to the fact that bremen isn't a really good side and he really didn't do well last season. hopefully norwich will do well, and josh will do well this season. really looking forward to josh being the main no.9 for USA.

  22. He will be able to play with Pukki. He can play behind or coming from wide. So, I think that he will be the backup 9 but still get a lot of games.
