My concern would be him tracking back at the age of 35. Yes coming from bench from 70 mins yes but not a hole 90mins.
Steer well clear. He’s way too old and, in my opinion, he’s never been an exceptional player. Kalimuendo is a far better long term buy. Liked your analysis but still didn’t sell Mertens to me.

Mertens would be a good gun for hire. He was critical when Napoli beat Marsch's Leipzig in Champions League, so Marsch knows how much of a clinical bastard he is.
Sure you can say Mertens is 35 but the fact is the man is quality and it would be worth getting him in for a year or two, I would love having the quality of Dries Mertens in our side
