  1. Calm down guys kalvin Phillips is a really good defensive midfielder but 60mil is way too much if it would be 45-50 then its decent.

  2. I think he is more than capable to be a key player in any top team but he is too prone to injuries though that's a huge setback honestly. In addition, his value is too high to be a second choice so much better other player cheaper like Matheus Nunes

  3. Is it completely inconceivable that a background check is unnecessary when paying 60m for a player? Especially after mendy situation. Use your brain, guy.

  4. £40 at the absolute MAX including add ons if not then walk away we don’t need him…go get nunes or de jong instead or even enzo fernandez he’ll be a cheap option

  5. Kalvin is robust & intelligent at breaking plays and setting up plays,Rodri dictates tempo of game but when team under attack he can't stop attacks quite effectively, not yet at least.
60M is high, around 40M would be optimum, but if there aren't better alternatives,if City are confident in player,if City have money, just get him.
If Kalvin is clear in mind to play for City,no family separation issues.Just sign him,he's Quality.

  6. I don’t understand why we need Phillips especially for that price tag. No player would be happy with the mins Fernandinho got last season the only reason it worked was because he himself knew he was on his last legs. I think if we do end up getting Cucurella we should not sign a midfielder and instead give Zinchenko mins in the cdm role as i think he will excel in it, his pass accuracy is one of the highest in the squad and I think it will work as he could allocate the mins he lost to cucurella in the midfield role which he is apparently really wanting. I don’t think there’s any point in forking out £60 million for a back up player who will never start ahead of Rodri only thing you’ll see is in the next summer window continual rumours of Phillips not being happy with the role he got and his lack of mins.

  7. City always do background checks to see what a player’s character is like. Pep won’t sign players with big egos coz he wants players who will fit into the ‘group’ and not cause trouble

  8. 60mil for a back up or bench warmer omg bad business. City don't need to buy a player worth more than 30mil as a back up. Moreover, in Rodri absence Gundo can cover up. The reason most city players are not happy is all because of playing time. Play academy players in FA cup and carabao. Game time makes players sharp. Fernandinho was often on the bench for most games of the reason, so I don't see any need to replace him with a player which is very costly. Philips will be 27 this December.

  9. Since Klopp arrived at Liverpool Chelsea have won every cup that Liverpool have except the Carabao, but have won a Europa Liverpool haven't. You can argue Chelsea have done better in the "Klopp era" than Liverpool have.
