      Given up Southgate making the right decisions. Think the World Cup should have been his last tournament. Picking mount on his woeful form instead of an on fire rashford in the quarter final. Bonkers decision!

      a snooooze fest. so other players bust their socks off and play every minute in their team & leagues. Or being called and stay on the bench.

      Managers like Gareth can't develop players so they leave them on bench. They wait for Klopp or pep to bring the talent out from the players. Then Gareth will decide to select the player to play.

      Why was Maguire selected as captain in the first place? What has he done during his career making him fit for that role? Literally nothing.

      Burn should be in the squad over Maguire. Southgates team selection is always questionable and always will be.

      Southgate has been underachieving with the quality at his diposal for years. 1st obvious task for any manager worth their salt is to pick form players, whether club or country. Seems the FA are happy to settle for losing semi's and finals though!!! The guy needs to be kicked out.

      when Southgate took over and England started to do well he said there was competition for places and players have to be playing to get into his squad. Last few squads and last tournament MaGuire got in without playing at club level and that was when I started to lose respect for him because he has sent wrong message. Now the message with his actions are, no need to be playing, no need to fight, because if i like you your in and that will never breed success. Also MaGuire has made mistakes lately in England shirt.

      Its weak mentality from Southgate. People need to remember his words when he was fresh in the job, and he got the best out of those players because there was competition, now there is not competition in certain positions. This happens with managers they get favourites and lose sight of what made the team successful, competition.

      Can see him slowly phasing out Maguire in a way he has with Sterling. Picks him but plays him as a sub, then just benches him then to the point where we are now with not being picked for the squad. Hopefully at that point we will have better options to pick from at the back.
      I don't get Phillips. But again not a ton of wealth there. Back up to Rice.

      I think he is picking this core because they gel. On and off the pitch.

      Southgate is a 🤡, should've left after he flopped the world cup, everyone says but look at what hes done for us, cost us the euros with bad tactics and late substitutions

      As a Villa Fan 40+ plus years who had to suffer Southgate as most boring slow Donkey Captain for years! I can tell you England won't win a Trophy under Southgate EVER! He doesn't have the creativity, imagination, style of play, system, or tactical ability! He's so stuck in the Gerrard-Lampard-Scholes problem era he can't see the wood for the trees!!🤣

      Only charitable thing I can say is that Southgate has taught his system/tactics to the players in the past, and wants that continuity, whether they are in form or not they know the system.
      But these are games against weak opponents and a good chance to try new in form players. It’s BS.

      Southgate needs to go for England to progress. He's a yes man,tactically inept & has been proven by the failings of his tenure. Couple that with picking players that don't deserve to be picked & the writings on the wall. He's done nothing in management to warrant the England job. Another one of Englands failures. Won nothing,done nothing.
