Cody Gakpo was visibly injured after Tyrone Mings‘ reckless plunge on the Liverpool striker. The Aston Villa defender was trying to regain control of the ball, but he miscalculated and caught Gakpo in the chest with his left foot.

Referee John Brooks showed caution for a high foot, and after consulting VAR about whether or not to issue a red card, he ultimately chose to uphold the on-field judgment. In addition, the match official was very upset as the Dutch striker disclosed the magnitude of the injury to him.

    The level of refereeing in England is so horrendous. So biased.. unless the tackles are on some red haired English boy. They have to show some heart, stop the mistakes.
    No wonder they are held in so low esteem in comparison to other European counterparts.

  2. It’s difficult to say. The leg was outrageously high, but he got the ball as well. Gakpo got hurt bad though. I feel like yellow is “okay” because he got the ball as well, but I can definitely understand it being red as well

  3. You don't have to be a genius to know the follow through would endanger the player. Touching the ball is irrelevent.
    Yes Jota should have been sent off against Spurs. Kane should have been sent off 21/22 for attempting to end Robbo's career.
