  1. What if Berhalter’s job and greatest success was nurturing a space for the young core to build their relationships going into 2026.. what if

  2. We have a lot to look for in the future. Paxton Aaronsson, Cade Cowell, Solnina, Caden Clark etc, Sands, Miles Robinson, Chris Richards etc.

But we need to find a consistent striker.

  3. When I was 14, 15, there was this American kid in our school. They taught Basketball as an option, but most English kids don't progress in that. Most of us had been playing football (soccer) from childhood. I went to the US when I was 18. At "soccer" I was superior to all around me, BUT, it was difficult playing against older people there, because they put in much more energy. Anyway, getting back to the Basketball in England. I wasn't great at it. This American kid was, though. We all assumed it was because he was American, but when facing this kid in other sports, it was difficult to beat him. His attitude was uncompromising, and that is what might one day lift US Men's soccer to where it should be. You have talent languishing in your inner cities, all wanting to be Basketball players. You have to tap into your national talent, not just those who play as a hobby, or those wanting to emulate outsiders. You have the strongest talent pool on Earth. It's just tied up in sports where people use their hands.

  4. The thing that Klinsmann had going for him, and the lack of which handicaps the hell out of most other coaches and is THE biggest problem for player development in the U.S., is that he could see which players were and weren't suited for their positions.

  5. Behelter era is a yes and no, yes because he I think sent bao many mixed messages that players like pepe and pefok, Stephen,. And scally where left not knowing what to do to get a real shot at making the world cup roster but he did get experience to those who did make it

  6. What these young players need are a guy like Jermaine Jones or Clint Dempsey to maybe get that never say die attitude not as players but in some way because that's what this team lacks the closest to it was hoppe but not sure he has talent to be oart if the team

  7. US mens teams in the past were better than this one. Glad they got in. We were lucky to advance to round of 16 with only 3 goals and only beating one team 1-0

  8. Berhalter Ball makes sense when you have players like Dest and Robinson (fast agile full backs) but inviting Ferreira over Pepi or Pefok is insane

  9. Biggest problem since 1990 I can see is the acceptance of mediocrity from USSOCCER, the players and the fans. Everyone talks a brilliant game in US soccer but none can walk the walk…I mean even in the posts below some 40 years after italia 90 we have fans saying we don't need to become like Brazil to be good. Uh NO! We absolutely need to become like them…why can't we? Whats stopping us? Aren't we a nation with possibly the greatest sporting legacy and pedigree in history? Yet constantly from everyone connected with US soccer all I ever hear is in a veiled form is that if we reach the level of northern European teams like Sweden norway and at the highest extreme , Germany that's somehow more than enough!!! We need to set our sights much much higher. We need so much more vision and thrust from us soccer to make MLS and the usmnt so much more competitive. We need to really work on the details and fine margins that the modern game is based on…for example do we have a talented set piece taker? Penalty kick specialists? Goalscorers and offensive firepower (with squad depth to compensate for the inevitable injuries). The best Euro teams have all thos and more while we just keep tossing the ball to pulisic and say "do your best man!". No wonder we keep coming up woefully short. By 2026 we need some real vision and leadership from US soccer on downwards.

  10. Like you said, Gregg did make some positive impacts. But he has capped out with what he could do. I want to see changes that Gregg is unwilling to make. I want to see players like Pefok and Dike get chances in the team. Our strikers aren't scoring anyways give someone else a chance. We also need to get younger and better at CB. Lots of youth that needs to be tested fully. Richards, CCV, McKenzie, Palmer-Brown, Sands etc. Its the picking of the same players regardless of if they are in form or not that is an issue. I said it on your last but Pefok had to be there and wasn't picked. I think Slonina needs to start being brought in. Turner is fine but Slonina is surely the future and needs to take that GK 3 spot to get blooded in. I am not saying that everything I said is the perfect move, But SOMETHING different. ANYTHING different. as of now this team has only matched the previous generation at the round of 16. That is not good enough. We need to go deep in 2026.

  11. This is all jibber jabber. Did anyone pay attention at how well Reyna played in the limited time he was in the game. He showed more creativity than all of the other players on USMNT combined during the entire world cup play. Berhalter should be fired for not playing him during the entire tournament.. We would have scored at least another goal during the Netherlands match which would have changed everything. Dempsey or Donavan should coach. F the foreign coaches. It’s all BS. Foreign play is overrated. We will always be at a disadvantage because our best athletes do not play soccer. Imagine if all of our US football players grew up dreaming about playing soccer. All this talk is BS. Simply mental masturbation. The fact we even made it to the top 16 is no less than miraculous. U-S-A!!

  12. Defenders for this next cycle:
    Chris Richards
    EPB
    A. Robinson
    Dest
    M. Robinson
    Scally
    Justin Che
    Trusty
    McKenzie
    Henry
    Reynolds
    CCV

    MF:
    Adams
    McKennie
    Musah
    CP
    Reyna
    Aaronson
    Weah
    LDLT
    Mihailovic
    Busio
    Tillman

    That’s pretty solid.

  13. I think Jack had a greencard but moved abroad. He probably would need to wait 5 years as a greencard holder to then apply for citizenship and need to be here for most of the time.

  14. Punching above your weight usually correlates with hard working, functional and boring. And that’s exactly what the USA were

Now you look like a better team and better teams don’t punch above their weight. They play their own way and that is a higher risk strategy

  15. We need a number 9 and we need a world class defense. It's time for some new defenders to step up and takeover. Those mistakes against Netherlands are so basic and for "professionals" to do that in a World Cup unacceptable. Thank Greg you have created a great base and have instilled the American spirit/ bond within this group, its time to evolve to the next step with a World Class coach for 2026.

  16. Maybe you could do a video about whether young USMNT players should really look to move to the Brasileiro as a place to develop before moving to europe. And if you think so maybe what are the 5 most attractive academies/clubs in Brasil for players to go to

  17. I’ve seen a couple of questions asking what the usmnt chances are in WC 2026 , I’m my opinion you will have a less of a chance than 2022 unless several things change. I think that being the co-host will be detrimental to the performance, I say this because you will not have the qualifying games to assess who is playing well whom isn’t and what needs changing. So if you stick to only playing Concacaf matches as your preparation then you will be destined to fail especially if the coaching staff remain the same. To achieve anything in 2026 you need to firstly change the coach, you then need to have the best players for each position available….not old school buddy choices. You then need a lot of friendly matches to high profile teams . The team needs to be well gel’d and play well together , finally the players can’t afford to get gassed out by half time , need to pace for the whole 90 mins . I don’t think any American should be expecting to achieve anything better than 2022 if nothing changes . In fact with auto qualification I’m just expecting group stage and out in 2026. Usmnt has the potential to achieve but will depend on how it’s done!

  18. I don’t understand why Peppi wasn’t on the WC team, if you want him to be the striker of the future, you should’ve given him the experience this year.

  19. I agree Greg (GB) made some mistakes not making the right subs during the world cup. However, if someone accomplishes what was expected of him, that is a success. Granted, not a huge success, but indeed a success. Responding to your "punching above your weight", one might argue in this word cup tying England was not expected of us before the tournament. Another plus is that GB has a very good rapport with the players. With all that said, i'm 60/40 for GB getting resigned. I think a new look and different perspective would be helpful, however, it could backfire. I like the way the US plays with GB. They attack, are exciting, give themselves chances. We get a good #9 or finisher and we would be through.

  20. Why isn't Tab Ramos ever brought up as an option? Also, if he or Claudio Reyna had McBride's or Stewart's job (whichever promotes a coach for the USSF board to approve), it would be interesting to see whom they would select as coach.
