Peters King is a fake news merchant for the NFL. 😂
I used to be a software engineer and I’ve been an NFL fan for 50 years. Anyways I always thought it would be fun to write code to build the schedule. You obviously have constraints such as, “The Giants and Jets can’t play a home game the same day,” since they both play I think in one stadium. Or, “Both the Cowboys and Lions play at home on Thanksgiving.” There are many other rules to consider. But I would imagine that you could write a program that could create a list of possible schedules, stack-ranked by some numerical value, then finally let a human look at those possibilities and choose one based upon some other “fuzzy logic.” Maybe you’d prefer that teams play the fewest number of consecutive home or away games, as an example. Anyways it seems that someone could build general software for any league where rules are placed in a database and then that software could work for, say, the MLB, the NFL or the NBA. Even soccer. Maybe it already exists.
I vaguely remember an Economics idea where you can sell more and more product — to a point. But you can oversaturate your own market if you have too much of anything and then customers lose interest. The concept must have a name. But I actually think the NFL has too many days now where there is at least one game. I liked it before where games were on Sundays with one Monday Night game, then games on maybe some holidays, and maybe Saturday games the final two weeks of the season. Now if it’s a Thursday and a game is on, unless it has playoff implications, I’m not really interested. And now there will be Black Friday games I think.
Props to Mike North and the scheduling crew.. massive operation and having to deal with 32 separate teams with 32 separate cities and the events that go on other than football games. Kudos
Wow never thought I’d hear them be honest on how they make the sausage
they have to bow down to their new amazon overlords is why its different than before.
great interview! But: "An infinite solution space got exponentially larger" is exaggerating just a tad
Welp ravens fucked themselves historically not taking the bye after the international game leads to a lose
I think they did a tremendous job on the structure of the schedule in whole for all teams. Glad they opened it up and strategically got in them weeds and it’s gonna be so much better bc of it! The ‘23 🐐 year is off and rolling.
These are the dbags responsible for all the broncos primetime games last year
Ya com on quit mutterkng
Boring
The one issue is the integrity of tbe game doesn't get mentioned and this is WWE level thinking
Have a good vacation Peter.
The NFL is over 72 percent Black the NFL employees system is over 85% whites how hard is it to create an NFL schedule SMH
I wish you had asked Mike North: WHAT WAS THE IMPACT OF PUTTING A TEAM (THE JAGS) IN EUROPE TWICE IN A YEAR?
The NY Giants have 10 road games in their 2023 season schedule.
The NY Giants have to be the "Road Warriors" to win many games to make it to the playoffs.
"Go G-Men"! 💙 🏈 💪
I enjoyed this a lot! Thank you!
Giants season ticket holders got jobbed
I'm damn disappointed Peacock is taking the Bills Chargers game. Soon ESPN+ and the other major networks will do the same thing. I have the extra money and it's not a fucking dealbreaker to pay five more dollars but we're already paying x amount a month for cable/cable streaming. The fucking greed in this country is lousy because it's the hard working people that have to pay, both the added services and the taxes for those who wont work and their streaming too. Not trying to be a dick but jesus christ, thanks for the money grab NBC.
As a bettor, please keep underrating the Falcons.
Mike North is full of baloney.
Ask these guys why a franchise like the Dallas Cowboys who have done absolutely nothing for 26 years continue to get so many prime time games. They are a joke
So Peter as a fan of a team out west who travels the most or the 2nd most miles every single year your concern for the New York Giants is bullshit. The West Coast teams do this every single year. Stop being such an East Coast Homer
You all can talk about accommodating concerts but let me tell you Taylor Swift is bigger than any NFL football game except the Super Bowl and that's open for debate. And by the way I'm not a Taylor Swift fan
Multiple short week appearances by teams proves once again the NFL does not care about safety whatsoever they only care about money
