“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty are exceptional signings” | Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Talk

Welcome back to Matt Hayes – Tottenham Blog! It’s been a while but I’m back with my analysis of Tottenham’s transfer dealings so far this summer, including why I think Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty are exceptional signings. I also discuss a number of other players including Tanguy Ndombele, Milan Skriniar, Danny Rose, Sergio Reguilon, Donny van de Beek, Kim Min-Jae, Callum Wilson, Josh King and David Brooks!

  1. That’s a great point Matt about stats and other leagues. I call it the true stats. The stats I use for players is competition stats. How a said player perform against UCL teams in a said league. Example is

  2. Take Serie A which this year is difficult due to two non regular UCL teams from serie a.
The only stats I would use for players are how they perform against the top flight which in most case are UCL teams. Little complicated but really helpful in analyzing a player. Smaller leagues player consistency is what your looking for. With Kim Min Jae was his stats when he transition form a twelve team league to a 16 team league if his stats changed at all. If his per match tackles went down or stayed the same it could mean his talent may have peaked.

  3. PH stats can translate because his stats are against teams that he will be playing against this season. The only question is how he fits in. Does replace a player with lower stats or does he add his stats. Likely both.

  4. Our defence is looking a lot better, now we need to bring in more firepower because we have so many games coming we’re probably going to need to field 2 teams to cope.
Son and Kane are our only reliable goalscorers. Need a good back up striker asap!

  5. I think that extra 10 day period is only for 'outgoing' transfers to the EFL ..i dont think we can bring players in during that period ?

  6. Delighted with the first 3 signings. Extremely disappointed with the Jousha King links. Another quick player to get in behind is not what the squad needs. heart set on Deneey. Cheaper, stronger, more experienced and at the right age where Parrott can take over in 18/24 months. Welcome back MH

  7. So you're Irish and you support Spurs. Not Man United!! Or God forbid that you support a team from your own fecking country? Talk about glory hunting.
