Newcastle United are in negotiations with Burnley over the signing of goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Pope, who was named in the most recent England squad, would be viewed as an excellent addition to Newcastle’s goalkeeping ranks.

Talks are also continuing for Hugo Ekitike, although Newcastle are prepared to move onto other targets if progress isn’t made soon.

  1. All these transfers focus so much on "England world cup squad". We all know Southgate is gonna go with Pickford/Maguire no matter what happens so it's all a bit irrelevant

  2. Targett-Botman-Ekitike-Diaby- Pope and Paqueta to put the icing on the cake first 5 in around the weekend and the last one the week after.

  3. Smart business again by us, I’m glad we are doing this sensibly and not letting other clubs take the piss financially. We’re willing to walk away instead of paying over the odds, just like we won’t pay the extra 7 million for botman.. we know his value is 30 million and we ain’t moving

  4. Good move for him and the Toon, both keepers will challenge each other and hopefully both improve 👍 Eddie's magic coaching dust will do the business 😉

  5. its needs to be done. good gk poor team. Newcastle plus being an England starter gk would help be what England need . because their doing bad due to pickford, terrible defense, southgate being too generous

  6. this is a good move for Pope his done wonderful job for Burnley and shown how good he is at Goalkeeping His good enough to play for someone like newcastle and will boost their defence

  7. Burnley fan here. Gutted he's going but expected. Congrats to Newcastle, you are getting a world class shot stopper, surprised at the lack of interest, especially if the price tag is right. Hopefully pope gets england number 1 spot now he's going to a more fashionable club, he deserves that England number 1

  8. do you think that they would spend every single pound of the £300 billion of their worth (and £2 trillion – including Saudi Aramco Co.Op) on Newcastle United ? Unless they spend at least a tenth of those sums, they would be bad owners in my view.

  9. An England goalkeeper with regular sized arms and dosnt look like a dirty mackam dinosaur for 8 million happy days what a signing hwtl ⚫⚪
