Everton produced a determined away performance to secure what could be a valuable away point with a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.

The Blues, who were forced to play the closing stages with 10 men after Mason Holgate was sent off for a second bookable offence, went closest through Alex Iwobi’s well-hit volley in the first half before the returning Dominic Calvert-Lewin prodded agonisingly wide of the target after the break.

Palace’s best effort came via Eberechi Eze’s precise shot late on but Jordan Pickford was on hand to produce an excellent save to preserve a share of the spoils.

  1. Holgate was robbed today, yes he was stupid to attempt that tackle on a yellow, but that 1st yellow was ridiculous, good strong fullback shepherding move, wasn't even a foul.
thought the ref was feeble and so easily conned right through the game.

  2. Plays Holgate, doesn't take him off when he's an obvious liability on a yellow card …..a dozen or so games in and I'm already worried about this fellas ability as a manager.

  3. Dom will not be fit enough to keep up with the Newcastle players for 90 mins on Thursday, they're on another level fitness wise.

  4. Was a big mistake not to take Holgate off, Ayew gave him a torrid afternoon and a red card was always likely. We had a few chances but on the balance of the game I suppose a point isn't bad but could have really done with three.
