Sean Johnson was abysmal. I was scared s***less every time the ball came to his feet!
T'was truly the battle of mid lmao. Nations League and Gold Cop ought to be better tho
Need to get over this well so and so scored a goal so they had a good game. No. Soccer is way more nuanced than that, how did they score it is more important than that they scored it. All goals aren’t equal in evaluating a player’s performance. Just scoring a tap in isn’t the same as making a brilliant play to set up a tap in, or striking a goalazo. You can’t be Feraira, suck the entire game, get a tap in that was really set up by the brilliant run of Dest, then get a pass for the rest of your performance. Let’s also be honest, Feraira has scuffed so many chances for the US, he’s like a volume scorer in basketball, he needs to many good chances to put one away.
We need a coach
I thought this was a US D team that should have been rolled by Mexico?…. So they drew? So isn’t that good?
I have to slightly disagree with you guys on Ferreira and Vazquez. For all of his good qualities in and around the box and in his hold-up play, Vazquez is a player who is totally reliant on service. He got none (what did we expect with this lineup?), and a lot of that was due to the fact that Ferreira, who was supposed to be providing the creativity and playmaking from the 10 position, was absolutely abysmal. All his tap-in goal did was mask the fact that he was one of the worst players in the pitch for 80 minutes. The guy simply can't do it at this level. I know he scores for his club, and I'm not as critical of MLS as many, but I recognize that the pace of play in the league is very slow, and Ferreira simply can't do it when the speed of play increases.
That said, my stock up guys were Aiden Morris, Alan Sonora, James Sands, Jordan Morris, and Serginio Dest.
Stock down – Jesus Ferreira, Aaron Long, Kellyn Acosta, Sean Johnson
For the stock up guys, I thought that there was a noticeable difference in our ball retention and in the quality of our possession when Sonora and Aiden Morris came into the game. Jordan Morris was probably our most dangerous attacker. Serginio Dest was clearly levels above everyone else on the pitch with regard to technical ability and was the catalyst behind the US goal. James Sands has noticeably improved after his time at Rangers, particularly with his pace of play.
For the stock down guys, it's almost becoming comical at this point for Ferreira and Long. I was honestly interested to see how Ferreira might look as a 10 because he clearly isn't the answer as a 9. Now that I've seen it, I don't need to see it again. Again, his tap-in goal was like putting jewels on a hog, because he was the worst player on the pitch otherwise. Long hasn't been the same since his injury, and continues to prove that he isn't international quality — at least not anymore. I know Ferreira is likely to get the Gold Cup, but at this point, his MLS form clearly doesn't translate to the international level, and I wouldn't call him again until something changes in his career and he proves himself at a higher level.
Johnson had a couple of nice saves, but his distribution was godawful. Acosta wasn't terrible, but his lack of technical ability really showed a couple of times. The thing is, while he can do a job, and he doesn't really make many huge mistakes, he simply doesn't affect the game enough to continue to hold his A-team roster spot long-term for this cycle.
Aiden morris?? Come one Herc what u doing broski
Literal D team 😂
Bruh it was our D team full of mls players like what do you expect 😂
This segment of “stock up and stock down” doesn’t make sense if there isn’t a permanent manager in place.
Whoever the manager is will have his own ideas and each player will have to prove themselves all over with the new manager. In essence , everyone’s “stock” will go back to neutral.
A Non fifa window friendly against Mexico with no permanent manager on the sidelines will not matter in hindsight.
Jesus F will never play in europe
These 2 are huge Mexican fans and must be gutted to see their B team can't beat US D team. 😂😁
Even in a terrible performance we tie. For decades now Mexico could outplay but not beat us. Goals matter, not amount of times the crowd chant ole during possession.
