For those of you who are trying to understand how Mitoma can baffle defenders, here is just one of the conclusions that he reached in his University thesis paper:
"Dribbles with the outside of the boot create confusion. If at least 20% of touches are with the outside of the boot, the defender's reaction to each move is impaired."
Watch Mitoma's dribbling style, which he has been working to improve for most of his career. He is constantly shifting from the instep to the outside and back again. His research with the GoPro showed that — if you frequently switch feet and switch from instep to outside – it scrambles a defender's ability to anticipate where you are going. Mitoma's touch of the ball is excellent, but the real "danger" comes from the fact that his outside touch is as good as his instep touch. Defenders do not know how to "read" him.
He made those dribbling look so easy
