It isn't comparable. Stick Vidic in the Utd team of the past 3 years and see how he got on. Van Dijk entered a Liverpool team that had been unsuccessful and in decline compared to Vidic entering a team that had been successful for years with a very good, very well respected manager at the helm.

To be fair Vidic played in a team with Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Berbatov and Van Der Saar and Van Dijk played in Southampton for 3 seasons. Perfectly natural for Vidic to be better in a lot of these stats.

I’m an Arsenal fan so have no dog in the fight here. However, I would say that at his peak VVD was better. Torres tore Vidic apart on multiple occasions.
Torres apparently had one over Vidic scoring 3 times in 15 games against vidic, Torres was a good striker then one of.the best whereas Oliver Giroud scored 6 in 12 games against Van Dijk, Giroud is an average striker
