James J Braddock was immortalized in the movie Cinderella Man. Russel Crowe portrayed a down on his luck boxer with a family to feed stuck in the depths of the great depression. After retiring for a year he comes
back to upset Champion Max Baer in the biggest upset in heavyweight history at the time. But Braddock’s next fight had a far bigger impact on history.

  1. Back when there was no commission and SO MANY "loaded gloves", j-ws were champions… like Baer… where are they TODAY?!??! They were all CREATING back then… which is why so many people "died" back then, LOADED GLOVES!!!

  2. JESUS CHRIST LOUCHRAN WHEN HE FOUGHT BRADDOCK FOR THE LHW TITLE WAS A PROFFESSIONAL BOXER FOR 10 YRS AND HAD 114 FIGHTS 11. 4 FIGHTS PER YEAR MEANS A FIGHT EVERY 31 DAYS THATS OFF THE SCALE

  3. Joe Louis Code of Conduct so what does that mean he was A boy Jack Johnson and Sonny Liston are the Greatest just because they stood on business fist to face RIp to both

  4. So, do you guys ever tell the whole truth???

So, Baer wanted to fight him? or didn't? as the movie suggests?

"Underdeveloped amygdala in utero resulting in sociopathic tendencies" is why they can't tell the truth.

Ps – Max Baer was viewed as a psychopath…I can't imagine why. Born without a conscience is why.

  5. Wow. I was always under the assumption that Joe Loius was the reigning champion when Max Schmeling beat him in '36. I never knew that Braddock was the title holder at the time.

  6. How in the hell do you give one man ten percent of another man's wages? Boxing is and always has been the most corrupt sport in history.

  7. Mann act wasn't a law.The Americans White evil government fast tracked it.They arrested Jack Johnson b4 it was against the law,2 transport prostitutes between states.JJ escaped 2 Europe. He returned yrs afer the incident. He was out of shape. He was the most courgous famous American black. They couldn't kill him.The Lord decide our fate.JJ era lynching, raping, burning of black people were happening days in the South.

  8. the movie cinderella man said that he lost his license. interesting that movie wasn't very accurate anyway it made max baer out to be a heartless thug who took pride in killing too men in the ring when the opposite is true.

  9. This was a time when men fought to eat. All of the old time boxers would have eaten today’s crop of heavyweights for breakfast. These guys fought with gloves that had straw stuffing in them and took punches that would have knocked an elephant out. Today’s lot fight once or twice a year and get paid multi millions but the old guys fought every month or so. Brilliant video. 👍👍

  10. I have a lot of Respect for Fm Heavyweight Champion James Braddock, but why did Joe Louis Have to give 10% of his future fight Purse,s to J.Braddock, if he Beat him And Won the Heavyweight Championship 🏆 Title, Which he Did Win.

I know it was Pre-Written in Joe Louis,s Fight Contract with Champion James Braddock, At the time, but That's Kinda like it Was Understood And Allowed to Extract
X amount of Dollars from Joe/ Stealing. I don't believe that's ever been done before, And for good reason, it's Thievery.
No one Who Holds Any Professional Boxing Title
Should be Allowed literally to Hold That Title Hostage,
Unless this was a Pre – Written Understanding in Professional Boxing,
    And,
I've never known of such a Stipulation.
When 2 Men are Contracted to Fight each other, every other matter stays out of the Ring.
The Skills of Both Individuals is All there is,
I don't see it as Honestly being Fare for the Titleholder to Sorta Hijack the Rules in their Favor.
    It's Only My Opinion,
    But I Believe it's Fare. 👍
